Battlestar Galactica- the TV show

Buckeye Buh Nim

Loving the Bucks since 1969
I thought it might be time to start a thread on what I think is now the best show on television.

It features a great story, better character development and even better writing. When you add the eye candy element (both from special effects and the actresses) you have a winner.

The show is similar to the campy 70s-80s show in overall them. Machines coming back to take down their creators. But now the machines look like the humans.

We are in the middle of season three of what I think will be a four season series. I think they will end this story line before it gets stale and have plans for another series in place.

Each season has had a Holy Crap! cliffhanger type ending. The beginning of season three featured what I think is possibly the best two hours television has had in a LONG time.

If you haven't seen it rent the DVDs. The mini series is pretty good, but it really picks up through season one.

Now there have been some clunker episodes (it's bound to happen) but for the most part they have kept the series fresh and entertaining.

Above I mentioned the eye candy factor well here you go..

The "bad" guys.....

Tricia Helfer in Playboy!
She's a little too skinny, now.
But, she has that special something!

And the Korean girl!
Grace Park!
Very sexy!

It's a very sexy show, period!

I believe I started a thread on this show!

I got a late start on this assuming that it would be just another crappy sci-fi show rather than having the very smart story line, along with all of the action and effects.

It took a friend of mine suggesting it to me, before I started watching. I watched the mini-series and I was hooked. Luckily the entire first season was shown on SkyOne in Britain, before it was shown in the U.S., and I was able to catch up and pass SciFi's schedule in a little over a week. I believe that that marathon of episodes has had a Pavlov's dogs type of affect on me though. Everytime they play the tinny music in the background for Caprica 6 appearing to Baltar, I get wood. :wink2:

I'm definitely ready for it to come back this Sunday, after taking a week off for the Super Bowl. I just hope that they finally put the Apollo and Starbucks storyline to rest. I grow weary of this useless love story.

I so agree with this. I hope they stay separate, and just retire the storyline altogether, but they will probably keep it on the back burner.

I get the feeling that somehow Baltar gets acquited in the trial. Just too good of a character not to have around. Absolutely nuts.

As far as Tricia Helfer goes. Much more attractive in season 1 than now.

Not happy that they got rid of Lucy Lawless, but it could be worse.

I believe that Baltar made it to Earth in the original series, and the basics of the storyline from the original series to this one are the same.

I agree about Helfer, but that's because her overall character has changed. The version of her that only Baltar can see is still sexy as hell.

Lucy has always been listed as a special guest star in the credits. She's pursuing a singing career now, and I don't think the writers had any choice but to box up her character, for the time being. The character D'Anna had some pretty freaky shit going on when they boxed her up. So I'm guessing that there will be more than one appearance from Lucy, before the end of the series.

I forget how the original ended, but then there was that horrible BST 1980 or whatever that was.

I figure at one episode D'Anna will be in Baltars head as well. Why not. Lucky guy.

This weeks episode was good. It looks like they are going to have a couple of character development episodes before they end the season.

One of the great themes of the show is that it includes the idea that not everyone is perfect. As a matter of fact there are no "perfect" characters on the show. Everyone has a flaw and these flaws come out and hurt the survivors.

The 3/4/07 episode is supposed to be a key one for the rest of the series.

Yeah. I didn't hate this weeks episode too much. Kind of pissed me off that the previews leading up to the episode were all about The President and VP arguing about Baltar's trial, and that was really the only part of the episode that discussed his trial. Nothing was in the previews about the genocidal doctor until I was watching The Dresden Files. Oh well. Still a pretty good episode. I wonder if they're going to build on the hatred of the Sagitarons, or whether this was just a filler episode to feature Helo, and build his character as more than the guy that's married to a Cylon.

Am one episode behind now, but the season finale is supposed to be another shift in direction.

The writers of 24, Lost, etc... could take note from how this series has been written and run.

They will have a 2hr Sci Fi channel movie before season 4 starts.(January 08)

Season 4 will be 22 episodes, and the rumor is it will end the series.

Tricia Helfer looks like she has lost weight! Damn! She was smokin' before!
Hate to see that. :( Still, she's got that something special!

Park is very sexy, also! They just play down her sexuality.

A sexy show!

I assumed her weight loss was part of the character arc for 6 from last season, but with none of it back. Nope.

IIRC, she used to be a Victorias Secrets model or something along those lines.
