  • Let me start off by saying that banks need to understand something....It's my FUCKING money.....I put it in your institution and I can take it out of your institution.

Secondly, learn some fucking customer service. I come to your institution because I need some financial services. I haven't found a bank yet that understands this. I don't care if it is Wachovia, who I believe is the worst bank out there, 5/3, Chase, or whoever.

We live in an electronic age. I should be able to move money via the internet, phone, branch, whatever without it taking 3 days for you to do whatever voodoo it is that you do behind the scenes. I should be able to move money from my account to my daughters account within the same bank at the drop of a hat.

It shouldn't take you weeks to do a loan when I have about the highest credit score one can have and I have banked with your institution for many years. I shouldn't be able to get a better rate at another bank that I don't even have an account with or with the car dealer through your bank. At least match it....criminy

    I hate banks.....

I haven't put a dime in a bank in five years. Fuck the entire industry. They can all burn in hell while eating bags of dicks.

I know that this is a populist position these days, but banks are the primary reason why we no longer have a feudal system. Banks allow people without inherently productive assets (for example, land) to have access to capital. If you think that banks are bad, then check out societies that didn't/don't have them.

I don't care if society has them. I'm not mad at you for having a bank account. I won't ever deal with a bank if I can help it.

My favorite is when I go into a bank where I don't have an account to cash a check from a client (b/c I don't want to just deposit some of those without knowing whether they're NSF or not, but that's another story) and they act like I'm either a thief or a crack whore and then condescendingly tell me that there will be a $5 fee for cashing the check (to which I always respond by looking through them like they're not even corporeal and say, "Of course" and then roll my eyes) and then ALWAYS after all of their bullshyte with the multiple id's and a thumbprint, and their attitude right before they hand me the cash, they smile and ask whether I'd be interested in opening an account with them. I always give them my nicest smile, pause, and then say, "No".

My biggest annoyance with banks right now is that every time I go in for a simple transaction, one of the "bankers" will pop out and try to lure me back into their cubicle farm to run the transaction--meaning they still have one of the tellers run my deposit/payment, while they look over all my accounts and try to sell me new services I need. I feel like I have to forcibly refuse their abduction every other time I enter a branch--c'mon, I know what banks do, if I need something I'll ask for it!

The moment that starts happening at my local PNC branches I will not be happy. I've worked around timeshares and lived in "timeshare alley" in Orlando, and if banks ever pull that crap with me, I will likely go to one of the local credit unions. I have been pretty happy with National City/PNC, though. I just wish they would expand down south. I don't want to change over to one of the big national banks, and haven't heard glowing reviews about SunTrust, so when I wind up back in Orlando it looks like my banking will be through The Mouse's credit union, Partners (not a bad "bank" by most measures, I just don't like the idea of my bank being associated with my employer, just like I really hated SmartCity as my DSL provider).

I like US Bank for the most part.

    A couple minor things:
-Called to activate a card and had to listen to some sales spiel while they activated it - like I don't remember that it took all of 2 seconds last time I activated a card
-Every time I make a deposit - "Would you like to add free overdraft protection?" - First, NOTHING is ever free. Second, no, I actually know how much money I have.

As do I. My advice? Take the protection.

I am in the process of trying to educate myself in the process of holding a foriegn currency in place of dollars in a MM or holding type of account, particularily for my business. If there is a poster out there who has this process down in a most efficient manner, I would be interested in some sharing of knowledge. In the forum or by PM if you prefer.
