B1G CCG: THE Ohio State University vs NW’ern: Sat, Dec. 19 in Indianapolis, Noon on Fox

The interception was just a great play by the Northwestern defender. But still, there were a lot of passes that should have been caught in the first half, including the potential pick six that Proctor dropped.

The decision to pass over twice as often as run made no sense given what's working and what is not.

Every time the Bucks got in position to score Day got pass happy, and we've got six stinkin' points.

I wouldn’t draft him in the first two rounds. He’s still a major project. I might take him to sit behind a veteran for a year or two and see what you got but I don’t see him being successful in the NFL.

He's a late 1 project imo.
Potential is off the charts, and can always go the Lamar route.
But preferably somebody you sit behind a vet for 2 years. Nobody has patience for that anymore though.

Fields is under pressure, doesn't have his security blanket in Olave, and isn't playing well.

Too bad our coaching staff wasted an entire half trying to force something that wasn't working in favor of the one thing that is working.
You forget how important Butter is until you try to cook without it.

I just can't imagine why they didn't fall back on the run and settle it down.

Miller’s had issues this game. Hopefully he picks it up the second half.

Miller has had issues ALL season. For all of his plaudits of being a "renaissance man" everyone is afraid to call his on-field game what it has been all year: Pretty crap.

I'm about to post a Jim Mora gif.

I want no part of getting blown out in a playoff game. Been there, done that.

A playoff game starts 0-0, you can't win it if you aren't in it. Besides the favored team doesn't always win:

The famous quote from Alfred Lord Tennyson, "'tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all". Same goes for a playoff game.

I’ve only ever seen two quarterbacks in the NFL who were able to be successful by relying heavily on their legs: Lamar Jackson and Michael Vick. And those guys were/are SPECIAL runners. Fields is a good runner in college but he doesn’t have that kind of incredible talent with his legs.

And he doesn’t like to run anyway. He could be dominating this game if he ran as soon as his first read isn’t there. He’s trying to go through the progressions. It’s just too slow. Wouldn’t draft.

Okay if I'm being Sober which I'm clearly not...

The reason we were so unstoppable last year is we set up the pass with our amazing run game. Yet this year we are trying to reverse it.

To me we are not playing Ohio State football and we are getting caught up with the idea of how good JF is.

However what's ironic is the reason JF is so good is our run game helps set him up.

If we don't get physical and pound the ball we will lose this game.

Been on this forum 14 years, so we can chuck that theory out the window.

Unpopular ideas that address an uncomfortable topic but are rooted in truth and logic tend to be shouted down until they can no longer be ignored.

I know you've been around a long time, I just think you're being dramatic. I don't think anyone has gotten ostracized. Fields is obviously struggling, but when you only show up in a game thread when he's playing bad and you say 'I told you so' not sure why you'd expect a pat on the ass.

JF isn't the runner Lamar is, especially with acceleration and lateral agility.
JF is a mobile QB in the mold of a Steve Young or Donovan Mcnabb - who really is going to take a good long while to improve the latter.

He isn't a better passer than Haskins. Not in term of his pocket set and footwork, his windup, ball placement, eye quickness, processing speed, anticipation and throwing at different paces across the entirety of every level of the field.

And keep in mind, I believe Dwayne was pick 17th?
