Upper Arlington High School receiver/defensive back Frank Epitropoulos has been selected to participate in the International Bowl, scheduled for Feb. 1 in Austin, Texas.

The game features commitments to top Football Bowl Subdivision schools against high school-age talent from American Samoa, Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Mexico and Sweden.

Epitropoulos, an Ohio State commit, caught 25 passes for 459 yards and seven touchdowns last season despite missing more than four games because of a hand injury. He also had 23 tackles as a defensive back and averaged 39.2 yards as a punter.

According to the game?s website, Epitropoulos is one of four players from Ohio and two Ohio State commits. The other future Buckeye playing in the game is Canton McKinley defensive tackle Se?Von Pittman.

Team USA will be coached by Steve Specht, from Cincinnati St. Xavier.

Nice! I really wanted to be able to get a look at Frank in action since I havent had that opportunity yet. The fact that Pittman is going to be there also is icing on the cake.

OK, went back and watched Jr film. I don't see why he can't make some noise as a WR. He has great size and hands. He has pretty good speed or better. Once he gets his route runner sharpened up he could be very good. If he can punt also thats just another weapon to use in the Meyer arsenal.

Can you do a lateral then pooch punt on 3rd down?

(I'm sorry, I sometimes have to throw out a more ridiculous gimmick than other folks think up...."What if we had 4 QB's on the field at the same time?")

Let me use a little AKAK street, been around from the beginning cred without linking anything here. Meyer is looking at Frank as a WR. This was reconfirmed by him and his family after the coaching change. He's a mature kid, who works very hard has a lot of family support... and is a better athlete than I think a lot of folks here give him credit for. Not gonna argue the route thing, but, don't be surprised if he's a very solid contributor for a good amount of time here.

Frank Epitropoulos, Ohio State wide receiver -- Nearly the MVP after approaching 100 yards receiving and coming close to earning MVP honors. He kept the US in the game with his late 59-yard catch and also scored on the 12-yard touchdown catch late in the third quarter. While he had a tough day of practice on Saturday, especially going against Stanford signee Alex Carter, Epitropoulos showed some ability to separate, solid speed, and just enough wiggle to make a couple defenders miss.
