I actually did go back to Uverse shortly after this discussion. Unplugging/rebooting was never the answer, but rather bad connections on the inside of the wall plate. I'd had one Uverse install, a TWC install, and another Uverse install, and it wasn't found until the second Uverse install. The Uverse guy said that they were supposed to put new connections in for all new installs. I imagine that that was a big part of their intial problems in Columbus. They were trying to hook up their new equipment to old line that were often run by amateurs.
I've had Uverse for over a year now, and I just came to the end of my one year promotion of having U450, 10Mbps internet, and unlimited voice for U.S. calls for ~ $180 (including tax and other charges). After the promo, the cost was going to go up about $60 or $70, so I knocked it back to the U200. I'll just pick up the sports package in about a month, so I don't miss any football or soccer.
Overall, I've been a lot happier with Uverse than I was during my first attempt. Even on the U200, I think that they have a better channel lineup (for me) than TWC does. The biggest problem is that Uverse doesn't have Fox Soccer, BBC America, and a few others in HD, but TWC does. That doesn't outweigh the fact that TWC doesn't have the NFL network, so I can't see myself switching (again) any time soon. Basically, look at the lineups and see what's right for you.
