Associate HC/DL Coach Larry Johnson Sr. (Official Thread)

Maybe it's wishful thinking on my part, but I just get a feeling that this CFP will be the last that Coach Johnson is a part of the staff.
Have no idea if I'm alone in that, but just figured I would share for communal support.
I agree and I believe that most of us are hopeful for new blood. Having said that, I really hope a long truthful conversation is being had with the parents of the guys he coaches and has recruited on the subject. Transparency is a very valuable thing imo

Yeah or at least have a transition plan because we do need a different coach with more experience with multiple fronts which is what Jim Knowles wants to run.

If we get the right replacement though we shouldn’t lose much. I’m hoping for Taylor at Miami personally since he’s a pro and went to Akron too.

Still ambivalent on the issue. tOSU still getting good DLs because of LJ's rep, and it appears that the DL is performing well. IF LJ goes, getting a top-flight replacement (nationwide) is key, along with keeping the DL assistant (or so I believe), and not letting Knowles bring in a B12 buddy. Kinda wonder if an SEC-type might be the answer, IF they can get those NFL caliber DTs to leave the south. Who, I leave to the coaches and/or this forum, as don't have a clue. Do know, that if Day goes far in the playoffs, then it will be easier to entice that coach to don the scarlet and gray. Go Bucks!

Not to me it doesn't. LJ's been turning 5-stars into 3-stars. His recruiting isn't all that great anymore either

Agreed. It’s time for him to step aside. The DL hasn’t looked elite in several years, LJsr is still living off of the lore of Young and the Bosa’s. I watched coaches flock Columbus airport in Hawaiian shirts for what was seen as a generational talent, only for his OSU career to be based off of one game and the rest was mostly forgettable. The hometown kid in Sawyer was seen as a supposed Bosa clone and his career has become every bit of a what if scenario. There have to be better, younger options in CFB
