Played it with a friend today. Amazing controls and combat system. Can't wait till I can afford to pick this thing up. It's so much to buy at once.

Rock Band
Mass Effect
College Hoops 2K8
Assassins Creed
:(

Not even mentioning the games I've bought, COD4, Halo 3, and NBA 2K8.

Game play is the best fucking part... I love being able to free walk the city (look up 'free walking' on you tube) this is not the tightest feeling controls in a game but the controls you have are great (assinations on rooftop guards is so freaking good... sneaking up from behind on an archer and stabbing them from behind with your wrist knives). Dont expect amazing combat interaction though - L1 - R1 and square are the only combat controls.

Its called "free running," although this game includes parkour, not free running. If you're interested in actually doing parkour/free running message me/check out the OSU Parkour facebook group: Facebook | Login

Even if you don't go to OSU, we could probably point you to people in your area.

Very cool game. It has been going by a little fast so I've stopped with assassinations for the time being and I'm going to all the cities/the kingdom to get all of the view points and rescue all the people.

After I beat it I might consider tracking down all of the Templars, but I could see that being a huge pain in the ass.

I am finding alot of the templars near the view points in the "kingdom". They are a real pain in the arse.

But overall I love this game. Love the freedom the game gives in roaming the terrain and do whatever you want. My favorite part is killing all the rooftop guards as I do most of my traveling by rooftop.

My one question is does getting all the flags do anything for you? Haven't really searched them out, just grabbing them as I see them.

From what my friend says the flags give you absolutely nothing.
Just picked up this game last night for the PS3, holy freakin' hell. Its a treat on an HD-TV. I mean, I COULD see it getting repetitive after a couple dozen hours, but I was incredibly hooked last night, didn't want to put it down. I feel a little jaded sometimes with games, so when a game like this comes around its a pleasant surprise.
If this game had a little more variety in weapons and/or upgrade your current ones this game would have even more of an edge. This is probably the best thing I've played since FF12 and Zelda, and initially I'd have to say its better than Zelda with the eye candy, moves, and interactivity. You can pretty much go anywhere. You scale walls, yet you need to move strategically at times, you don't just go straight up like Spider-Man.
The activities in town are sweet, the AI is fairly intelligent and when you're in trouble its pretty realistic how you need to avoid guards. Guards will climb walls and jump from building to building to chase you, they can do what you can so you need to be agile and smart in your escape. On top of that they will pelt you with arrows and rocks as you scale walls. Your methods of losing guards are neat too. You can lose them around corners if you're quick and find a hiding place (Hay, enclosed area, etc ), townspeople you've helped will slow guards down, you can even play it cool on a bench with NPCs and guards will pass you by.
If the gameplay wasn't cool enough, the story is fresh and unique, which is one reason why I give this an edge already over Zelda. Zelda is basically the same rehash on previous games in the series with a slight twist, I don't believe I've encountered a story like this one till now. I don't know much, but I wouldn't give any of it away. I'm hoping this game continues to live up to what I've experienced.

I played this for the first time last night as well. I am very impressed with the story line, graphics, and capabilities/actions of the player. Having said that though, the climbing and stuff seems to easy at times. I agree with ulukin that more weapons, upgrades, etc would be a welcome addition.

I'm not far into the game, and am just now on my first real mission, and have just arrived in Damascus. I like the way the horses handle, but I wish you didn't have to slow down every time you're near a guard. I didn't slow down quick enough once and I had guards all over me... just for riding a horse.

The scenery is amazing, and I like that the game doesn't stop for loading every time you leave or enter cities and such.

BrutuStrength, my buddy instructed me to ride straight through to Damascus, full speed, and not worry about the guards. They will, of course, suspect your'e up to no good and give chase, but won't follow you once you get to the city. Once your'e outside the gate, slow it down again and go from there.
I think you'll find that the game opens up a lot more once you're in Damascus. Saving citizens, pickpocketing, viewpoints, interrigations, jumping around the city, its sweet. Not a whole lot different from the opening city, but since you're more of a wanted man there you have to actually avoid guards.
So yeah, climbing may not be quite the art form I described. I had a tendency to hit the X button as I climbed though, which would sometimes cause me to "jump" when I meant to "reach" for a ledge to my right, thereby causing me to plummet to my death lol. Still, you can't really climb any wall, you do have to look for windows, ledges, cracks, barrels, run up some walls, swing, etc. While many of these may not require a lot of button movements, the annimations are fluidity of your climbing is very detailed, and you can't complain about the views =)

as the game goes on you unlock different weapons (my favorite was the throwing knives) But the game as a whole was a let down the repetitiveness of the missions was just boring. But I'm sure there will be an AC2 and I'll probably buy it also. If you have any questions about the game ask and I'll see what I can do to answer them just don't ask about the flags you can google the maps on your own.

At this point I've cleared (almost) all of the view points, and I've done all of the rescue citizens. I've got one more assassination mission before I finish the game.

I guess my gripe is this: I wish that the guards were actually a threat. After you get the full two bars of health (and the counter-attack move) killing guards isn't difficult and just takes time. Running to go hide from guards just becomes a little more convenient, but nothing stops you from just backing up to a wall, holding in RT, and pressing X when you see a guy start to attack.

By the way, was I the only one to figure out how awesome throwing knives are later in the game? Throwing knives are awesome weapons, especially for the informer missions that have you do a few assassinations. I usually just run up on to the roofs and start "sniping" people with the knives from the roofs.

Throwing knives is just the shit. That is how I make saving citizens easier. I start far enough away and just kill 3-4 guards before they even realize what is happening. Then I kill the last 1-2 guards around.

But the best part about the knives is refilling them by beating up the goons.

My favorite thing to do with the knives is to just farm the guards. I find a big courtyard, and stand on top of a building (high up if possible) and kill one guy in the middle of the court yard, then just keep killing guards who come up and look at the dead bodies and they just pile up lol.

Does anyone know if some of the guards respawn? I don't think the roof guards do.
