comments:According to BGR, the reason AT&T isn't going to be ready with MMS at launch is not because of any new pricing plan?it's because of Opt-Out MMS codes. Apparently, because people were using MMS with the iPhone 3.0 betas, AT&T put an opt-out on all iPhone accounts. So, theoretically, if AT&T manually (yes...manually) removes all of these opt-outs, MMS would work just fine.
As for the tethering delay, BGR also noted that AT&T is still in the process of hammering out a pricing plan?possibly as much as $70 per month for unlimited data/tethering. None of this is confirmed of course, but $70 a month for an unlimited data plan with tethering would be way to damn much.
no one has mentioned on gizmodo that people who own the 3g are going to have to pay something like $600 or $700 for the 3gs. they really really REALLY don't want us to spend our money i guess.
I've been replying with that in almost every thread. Apple is now making a habit of shafting their early adopters (remember the 3G price drop a month after it came out?)...again, to reiterate, I have ZERO interest in upgrading to the new device...but I do resent the fact that if I WERE interested, I'd have to pay a premium...essentially punishing me because I bought first a 2G, and then a 3G...but for this hardware bump?
So a feature that should have been in the first run of iPhones will now be delayed because AT&T went out of their way to disable that feature on a beta of the 3rd iteration of the software that finally added the much-needed feature?
Wow. Wonderful.
Apple will have some good talking points when it comes time to renew some arrangement with ATT.
-Your network didn't hang when we released 3G
-Your network wasn't ready for MMS with 3GS
-Your network won't run our coolest apps (Sling)
-Your network costs way too much for tethering (and why are you penalizing the device, since you have cheaper plans available for other devices??)
-Your network...(you get the picture)

June 19th in the US.
In a tough economy, I see no need for 3G owners to upgrade. I'm waiting for the 4G to switch, and I really like Apple.
If you buy right now, you can upgrade again in two years. I just don't feel like buying two iphones in 25 months, and I'm not giving my wife one (she drops her phone constantly).OK oh sage one. So, now you are saying to wait..again???? WTF??? You remind me of a couple of girls I used to date. Wait... wait... wait and never close the deal.
You own the bouncing personalities app, don't you?Dryden;1480839; said:I think it needs to be restated that the iPhone is the greatest invention ever (even if Apple invented it). If you don't know, you just haven't looked at the App Store.
 Let us know how you enjoy it.Well I did it, pre-bought the 32 gig. Picking it up next Friday @ 7am.
Pros and Cons of JailbreakShould I get one of my geek-y MAC friends to unlock this? What is the upside/downside?

Apple's being pretty cagey with the hard specs of the iPhone 3G S, but apparently T-Mobile Netherlands didn't get the message -- it's just posted up a specs page listing 256MB of RAM and a 600MHz CPU. That's up from 128MB and 412MHz in the first-gen and the 3G, and it's basically exactly what was rumored. Of course, the 3G S also has that new PowerVR SGX graphics chip that supports OpenGL ES 2.0, so the total speed boost is probably more than just pure clock speed, but we'll find out for sure when we get our hands on one.
