And HTML5 is phasing out the current Flash, so maybe Apple is just ahead of the curve.
HTML5 has a ton of issues in comparison to the flash model.
First, let's start with the simple one, video, youtube's HTML5 has a ton of issues I have seen already, first off, now ads are going to be in your face, want to see that video? Gotta watch the ad before it. HD video has a ton of pixelation and the controls seem to have issues constantly, like the status bar saying the video hasn't started yet when I am half way through it.
Online games, a lot of people think of online gaming as world of warcraft or xbox live, etc... However, the most popular online games are Farmville, Mafia Wars, and similiar games, why? They are built into popular networking sites and people can play them while they wait for their douchebag friend to update his facebook or reply to the picture of your feces you posted.
Advertisements are an easy one.
Porn, nuff said, you take away flash you kill a ton of porn sites. Porn drives the internet, it always will, people don't like going into seedy adult book stores just to buy a magazine/video/etc to rub one out, the internet has brought porn to your house where you can watch it in privacy without that old lady giving you a dirty look as you stroll out of the adult book store.
A lot of sites, such as large multimedia companies, have sites driven completely by flash, it keeps their code secure, allows for a nice flow and a richer multimedia experience than traditional html.
Top this off with the fact that there's huge issues with the HTML5 standard and what is going to be the video codec, and you're not going to see apple revolutionizing the web anytime soon.
People will start using a lot of the features of HTML5, but flash isn't going anywhere. It's supported by all browsers, it's free, and even though it's a memory hog, it works.
