Adjusted for inflation, gas was more expensive the first half of last decade than today. In today's dollars, it was over $5.30 a gallon in June of 2008.

California has that beat. They're by far the most expensive state with a gallon--as of yesterday--going for $5.69. My new "home" state of Oregon is fourth most expensive.

Back in the day, it was a lot easier to get away scot free when doing that. But with increased camera surveillance, it's much harder to inconspicuously partake in antisocial behavior in public now.

Drove my Tundra today- I only drive it when I'm doing things that require a truck, otherwise my Jetta at 42mpg gets the nod. I had to fill up at 4.09 a gallon, then dropped 4.89 a gallon for ethanol free for the chainsaws.

Nope. 1.8T in a 2014 with a 5 speed. I do a lot of 55mph+ on my commute, but I've never gone below 37mpg on a tankful.

Ehh...remember the oil price per barrel is for oil contracts on oil still in the ground. It takes a while for it to make it to the refineries, where it is sold again (RBOB) to the retailers.
