I prefer gold paint.

Paint is very good too, but this is the Crème de la crème:

Off topic, and I know (presume) this post was in jest, but true story: I went to Lowes a few months ago for garage door track lubricant, which was limit 1, and they scanned my ID and recorded the date of purchase in their database.

Apparently there is some serious shit in those cans and Lowes treats it like a controlled substance.

Canned air is basically a "controlled substance" at my office, because apparently some dumbass did indeed use it to get high once several years ago, which partly led to his termination. So yeah, I'm not surprised.

Anyway, it's up to around $4.40 in my neck of the woods. As much as I prefer my larger desk and big dual monitors in the office, I think I'm going to be working from home a bit more often.

4.09. Not a fun time to be an F-150 driver. Well it wouldn't be if I had to drive it anywhere other than the gym and school. Yeah, the old $70 half tank sucks but it will probably last two and a half weeks.

i’m lucky and unlucky on both of these accounts.

lucky that my boss is awesome and lets me tell him what I need and he just gets it for me … so I have a nice home and work setup with multiple monitors…

unlucky that my stupid company is hellbent on “everyone back to the office because we want things back the way they were”. Got news for you buddy… the genie is outta the bottle and aint ever going back in…. So basically i’m hoping my direct management will do some “unofficial” policies that we wont ask for permission and wont tell another living soul we’re doing…

Well, I was fortunate enough to get a new job in which they know I can't commute to Southern California... and I had just turned down a job, who then called be back later with a better position (not better enough) and I had the rare thing where you actually have 2 offers in play at the same time... and the one I didn't take couldn't tell me I wasn't going to have to come in to the Columbus office at some point, and they were short on $, but I put a $10,000 value per year... (and if you really think about the time in the car plus mileage, that might be a low number too), but that really made me think about what the cost of that really is. And its dumb bullshit also, like, lets say you had to be showered and suitably attired to interact with humans in an office directly after dropping your kid at school. Well, not only do you have to have your ass out of bed earlier, you you might have to be up before the kid earlier.... whereas now, I can get up 35 minutes before we need to leave and drink coffee, let the dog out, and find something resembling pants because I'm just swinging through the parking lot and coming back and if you ask my right now when the last time I took a shower was, I would have to think about it if it wasn't today. No driving on interstate highways in rush hour traffic hungover and half awake. Luckily the other company made it an easy choice not just in $, but also the potential of the organization, but a move from legacy tech to really cutting edge fintech.

I really need Microcenter to open up a store down here. My wallet would be screaming bloody murder, though. I have an okay 27” I picked up at Staples back when it all started, but the biggest problem for me is how small my desk is, and the lack of space for a bigger one until our house is finished.

Thankfully I’m getting up to $500 to use on home office equipment this year since my role was reclassified as hybrid, so I can get a bigger desk and another monitor and just have IT give me a dock…once I’m in the house. It also sounds like our management is going to look the other way as much as they can in terms of working at home vs the office.

I do actually like being in the office, but if I can cut my gas station stops to once a month, my wallet will be thanking me as long as gas stays high.
