just saw $4.16 up the road at the BP here in Indy. Glad our Pres commissioned that group to study the whys and wherefores of what is causing gas prices to go so high....

My guess is the group will tell him the same thing that similar groups told Jimmy Carter....Mr. one termer.....

And one of the administration's responses is to to take tax breaks away from the oil industry which will (you guessed it) be passed on to us in the form of even higher gas prices.....

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Amid rising gasoline prices at the pump, President Barack Obama urged congressional leaders Tuesday to take steps to repeal oil industry tax breaks, reiterating a call he made in his 2012 budget proposal earlier this year. The White House conceded his plan would do nothing in the short term to lower gas prices.

XOM made over $30 billion last year. What exatly do they need those tax breaks for? BP made over $5 billion last quarter. They'll survive.

I can't afford this shit. This is ridiculous. Costs me over $40 to go see my parents and I drive a Honda Civic.

I thought I saw it for $3.80 last night at the gas station on the corner of 17th and Summit here in Columbus.. but I'm starting to think I just misread it. Sadly, that would be cheap.

My point is not about the tax breaks exactly, it is that the corps. will pass that tax onto us... They might survive but at who's expense????

The point is that an oil pocket/field could be discovered tomorrow that could last the world another couple hundred years, the Middle East could decide to give everyone roses and go all hippy, and we would still be paying out the nose for gas because the companies are going to pass that entire increased tax cost onto the consumer. Throw in a little for some extra profit as well.

The biggest issue I have with how things are being handled is some in DC are using these prices as a way to force people off of our oil addiction, but that's only going to hurt the middle and lower classes in the end.
