So after not re-stringing in about 5 years, I've done it twice last 6 months

Learning to play #41 DMB (one of my favorites, if not my favorite)...this stretch chords are fun

AH #41... love that song.. I think I tried to learn that one a long long time ago...

Turned 52 and bought 2 guitars. I have always wanted to play. I have always been musical and have fucked around with bass and piano, I play a pretty good blues harp and have always been a singer.

Got a '72 Telecaster Thinline re-issue and a Takamine acoustic.

It's been 3 months and it's fun as hell. Play about 1-2 hours a day and am starting to get hammering down. Still have a hard time with my pick hand, but I have most of the basic chords down along with bar chords. But I still suck LOL.

Learning a ton of Son Volt, Wilco, Jackson Browne, Lou Reed, Greateful Dead, Marley etc.

Learned Jackson Browne "For Everyman" last night. Double drop D tuning. Awesome tune.

Working on DMB - Lie In Our Graves

I have almost all of it down, except for the Jam part. I'm having a hard time with the strumming. What's the method of muting the two strings in between the G and E? I've never really been good at muting strings

E:-------------------------
B:-------------------------
G:-11---9---7---4---4---6-- <---2nd finger
D:-x----x---x---x---x---x--
A:-x----x---x---x---x---x--
E:-10---9---7---3---3---5-- <---1st finger

Here's a video of it. See 1:37-until really the end (the guy plays the song VERY well). He also plays a variation of the tabulature shown above

Thank you for the help!

Are you playing a right handed guitar left handed? Those tabs are flipped top to bottom.

Anyway, let the tips of your fingers just rest against the strings you want to mute as you are playing. For this, I would be touching the A with the bottom part of the tip of the first finger, and I would be touching hteh D with the top part of the second finger. That way when you actually hit the strings, they sort of "click" rather than ring. You can see him doing this in the video.
