Any Coaching Changes this Offseason?

I would disagree with this statement. I recall a number of games earlier this season where the Buckeyes hit like they were trying to make the other team cry. Maybe it was the level of competition or something else. But there was a point this year where they "brought it".

I guess looking back at the whole season on average is what I rmember as opposed to specific times. I just remember watching the Texas game and knowing for a fact Vince Young wasn't going to feel good the next morning. I didn't really get that impression watching any games this season.

I think the offensive play calling needed some work. A LOT of work actually. All game, we had drives that had more than 2 first downs, only for it to stall in at the end. After the Malcom Jenkins interception, I expected JT to run beanie again and again and again (on 3 & 1). And he did. I agree with the first two running plays, but the third could've been a screen to the left or a right. The playcalling was very predictable. JT needs to stop calling plays and trust someone else to do it.

I apologize for not being more thorough in my statement as I didn't want you to think I was coming down on you. I agree with you completely about "the whole season". I don't know when or why it occurred, but it seems that the Buckeye defense lost the interest in bringing the pain. But then again, it may have just been a difference in competition quality.

Nah I didn't take it that way at all. I was just hoping to further explain my stance.

I agree, give props to Les Miles.. the guy just hires the best coordinators out there, and says "do your thing".. Fisher left, Crowton in.. Pelini leaving, u hear them talking to Tenuta.. I doubt he has any ties to these guys, but he just realizes they are the best in the business, so he tells the University to go out and get them..

Im not at the point where i feel Tress needs to hand over the OC and playcalling role.. but i am at that point in regards to the defense making changes

People are really giving Heacock a bad rap.

In the past 3 years (2005, 2006, and 2007), the man has called three bad games defensively. Unfortunately for us, those three were losses. Still, let me put this into perspective for you. Out of 38 possible games played in the past 3 seasons, Heacock's defense was, at worst, good in 35 of them. Hell, in our 2005 losses, we played excellent against Vince Young, and we shut down PSU's offense on the road in Beaver Stadium.

i would strongly disagree with the notion that the d was "good" in all 35 of the games we won. but you are absolutely correct. heacock is getting more attention than he probably deserves. but then this thread is inviting the absurd. we are after all talking about coaching changes after going to the nc game in a rebuild year... not sure how you can get much more absurd than that.

There's nothing wrong with having that impression overall; but specifically, Jake Locker flat out got his ass kicked. Big Time

I've already been banned once for bashing after the Illini game. This is definitely not a free speech site.
With that said....we made it to the NC game because of our weak schedule, inferior opponents, and a flawed system. I love the Bucks as much as anyone but I'm a realist. We are a good team in a very weak conference that doesn't play a championship and judges their entire season on beating
a very mediocre team in TSUN. Our coaches are mostly from Ohio, have Ohio ties or connections. Luke Fickell is a great example. What depth of experience does he bring to our team? Jim Heacock has been at Ohio State for 15 years. Sometimes change can be good. Other conferences (namely the SEC) have raised the bar. To compete we must play better, more dangerous competition and we must have coaches that know what it takes to win in ultra-competitive games on the biggest stages.
Jim Tressel is a fantastic head coach and a great representative of the program. I do think that he is guilty of alot of nepotism.
How about a few ex - SEC coaches to infuse some new blood and energy? We won the national title in 2002 with Dantonio. Things haven't been the same since.
As for our athletes....I think we have good, sometimes great athletes at the skill positions. Is James L. the best linebacker in college football? I think not. He benefits from lack of competition. Our offensive line is not what everyone thinks it is. Part of my last ban was my bashing of Boone and Barton, who I believe have size and strength but no speed, game savvy, or the right attitude to win against tough opponents. They are both blowhards IMHO, great for a quote, but no real action when the chips are down. We've beaten Michigan 4 years in a row because of their team's mindset....they have a great bunch of athletes, but the mental aspect has been lost on their team. Hart, Henne, Long, Manningham all have been serious underachievers. Our offensive line and our defense both now have this problem IMO. Jim Heacock and Jim Bollman would be in charge of both of those.
I live in SEC country, most of my friends are diehard LSU fans. They all pretty much felt the game would be exactly as it was. They were convinced OSU couldn't keep the pace. They were right. Embarrassing for our program as a whole IMO. Our reputation is shot nationally and we now are the official owners of a very large monkey on our backs.
There is only one way to get him off.....change.

So what's your position on the team???

Even though it's a little late since you're gone.......

We couldn't keep the pace? Boeckman isn't the best under pressure and when he gets hit hard, he fumbles (see MSU game for that) That accounts for one interception and one fumble. Two of their TD's were caused by personal fouls (one which I still think shouldn't have been called - the late hit out of bounds)

Other than turnovers and penalties, we outgained them in total yards. We matched their scoring positions speed easily. We kept up with them just fine. We just made some stupid mistakes. They were able to capitalize on those mistakes. Plain and simple. We weren't outplayed this game IMO.

I would like to see Todd get some options in this offense. It was like he was focusing on throwing the ball downfield the whole time.

Where is Hartline?
Where is Robiskie?
Where is Small?

That is what he was thinking about in the key situations in this ball game.

I'd like to see the running backs get more involved in the passing game. With talent like Brandon Saine and LaMaar Thomas, why wouldn't you? Throw it to one of them, have em move after the catch, and move out of bounds. Boom, you have just gained 4 yards.

Run a formation of 3 WR, 2 RB, 1 QB, and you can get this. I saw Brandon
Saine get that 44 yard catch because people were not accounting for that RB. So, why on 3rd downs was the only back out Maurice Wells (Who was only in there for blocking)? Well, I mean, obvious Mo is a great blocker, that is why he was out there blocking. Why wasn't there a running back or a tight end running and getting open?

Bottom line is that there should have been. Have tight ends and running backs block the whole time takes away something important to any quarterbacks passing game: A checkdown.
