^^Thanks.

I've always wondered about the barcodes.

I just downloaded a scanner, so I will give it a try.

Yeah, it was a great idea to bridge between PC and device, now, QR codes especially, it's started to gain a ton of popularity. A couple sites are selling patches and the like with QR codes for websites and what-not. check out QR-Code Generator for creating your own.

Are QR codes pretty standard on iPhones as well? I know they have readers, but I have no clue how prevalent they are. All I've seen is the Android market and apparent popularity in Japan.

First thoughts: for the back and normal menu buttons to work. You can access them by sliding the webpage you are on to the left (menu, forward and backword) appear in a black bar on the rights side. If you slide the webpage to the right you get to the tabs window.

Epicurious, the Recipe App, Finally Makes the Jump to Android

Epicurious - Free - the definitive recipe app

chart

The Android version of the app is nearly identical to the iPhone version, meaning that it's comprised of a recipe browser, suggest recipes, a search function and a shopping list. In each recipe, you'll find step-buy-step cooking guides, photos and ingredient lists. I mean, obviously—it's a recipe app. The real value here is in the database, which is spectacularly huge.

Zombies. Brains. Zombie hunters. Nuclear bombs. Statistics. You love all of these things, and now you can have them as the live wallpaper on your Android phone.

Pixel Zombies Live Wallpaper, now available for $1 in the Android Market, simulates a zombie outbreak on your phone: The red dots are zombies, the blue dots are zombie hunters, and the green dots are the doughy citizens whose brains the zombies are nom-nom-noming.

You can set the population paramaters of the groups yourself and track how they're faring in real time. Dropping an icon acts as a nuclear bomb, leveling the playing field. The only thing better than witnessing a zombie outbreak? Being the architect of your own.

Forgot to say that the Beautiful Widget Wallpaper needed the Beautiful Widgets app to have the live wallpaper reflect your weather.

DoubleTwist just came out with a music app for android phones as well. Get it while it's still FREE. I'll post a review soon. I'd like to see a media player with an equalizer feature. For those that don't know DoubleTwist also makes a Mac and PC program that will sync with your itunes or Windows Media Player so you can get all of your playlists on your phone.

Swype | Text Input for Screens

Swype has finally reopened their beta program. Hurry, it opened a few days ago and they were only going to leave it open for about that long.

Note: if you had trouble installing it before without a beta membership, you probably had major problems and error messages like me. Not so after registering and downloading their copy. Uninstall previous versions first though.

Thanks for the heads up on this... this is super handy, with one concern. During install it gives you some message about how your texts may be recorded so you shouldn't use it for passwords or financial data. Is this because it's in BETA and they're tracking use or some other "big brother" thing?

Has anyone tried PDAnet for a free tethering program? Sorry I couldn't find a barcode, but the site is here PdaNet -- USB Tether/Bluetooth DUN for Android
