Up for an upgrade here in the next few months, and I'm not sure if I want to try Android again or wait for the iPhone5.

A few months ago, Liam spent some time with 17 mobile security apps, one of which was an app called Cerberus. He came away quite impressed - so impressed, in fact, that he crowned it the winner (and, as a license is just $4, it was also crowned the best for the budget-minded).
The app is always free to download and comes with a 1 week free trial, but a lifetime license is normally $4. I say normally because, as you have likely deduced from the title, the developer is offering free lifetime licenses in celebration of hitting 100,000 users.

To get the license, just download the app and register an account (it requires a username, password, and email address - nothing tricky), then hit fill out the form and hit Submit. The developers will take care of the rest. The promotion ends with the month (by GMT standards), so better move fast - you only have a few days left!
jwinslow;2116349; said:None of what he mentioned is regular activity. He was saying this app would let you remotely do tons of cool stuff with your phone. You could record how the screen looks (screen cap), record the audio, remotely erase the phone if it is lost (wipe), etc.
What did you find confusing about your android experience?
The stock browser, meaning what came with the phone, is nearly identical, except they usually load flash elements and don't have giant missing parts like the iPhone.
The app list functionality is about the same. Android just stole apple's folder system. Apple has now stolen the notification dropdown menu bar, which makes their other android targeting lawsuits comical.
I want a phone with options, but they are an enhancement of my experience, not a necessity for someone who doesn't know about them.

But I will be looking, when I do upgrade, for a Microsoft word/excel/PowerPoint app that I can use to edit documents on the go. And because of this, a bigger screen would probably be in my best interests.
I'm a pretty big techie nerd (or at least I used to be) and I actually haven't rooted my phone. My droid incredible worked great (and had many of the widgets other android phones wanted), so I didn't feel compelled to switch. With android there's so much more customization with Rooting and all that.
Did Apple finally get turn by turn GPS navigation through google maps or another app? I know that was a missing feature for awhile which is standard on Android. For example I use my iPhone for music while driving, maps for directions (and to check traffic). I want my phone to be my gps too.
That's one area where the iphone destroys android. The latter has the biggest games (angry birds, words with friends, fruit ninja, etc) but doesn't have the volume of random, quality games that the iphone does.I use it for some games but not a lot.
Android (and iPhone) have a number of office document editing apps. The Amazon App Store has given away a ton of premium $2-8 apps, including multiple office doc editors. I think they just had one a few days ago. The problem is they rotate through them, so if they were already given away for free (for one day each), they probably won't pop up again (however there are many different options in that software field, so there may be more coming). But I will be looking, when I do upgrade, for a Microsoft word/excel/PowerPoint app that I can use to edit documents on the go. And because of this, a bigger screen would probably be in my best interests.
Where is the music coming from? What kind of computer?BuckeyeMac;2116528; said:Is there a special way of getting music to/from computer to android phone? Would that music still work in iTunes?
BuckeyeMac;2116547; said:I use google maps on my iPhone. No it doesn't give turn by turn, but I love the layout. I hate 99% of the gps apps because they use all these colors and a haneous arrow for your location.
I don't download much music. It's all existing music or stuff I get from my brother in law (huge music junkie)
It would be coming from my XP laptop, and I use iTunes for my music organization/ storage
