Understandable. I feel more like this, though:

Take that however you want it.

I tend to agree with the majority here when I say whats the big deal about the word "homo"? I could understand if "fag" or other more harsh terms was being thrown around.

This all reminds me of that South Park episode were anything to do with Christmas had to stop because it was offending people.

We don't want anyone, them most of all, coming away with the false notion that BP, Ohio State fans, Ohio State, or the state of Ohio, are in any way racist, intolerant, ignorant, or the like.

This site is supposed to be about having any conversation that needs to be had, any time. It is about that, but we have to adjust ourselves now and again in order to maintain and preserve that freedom of expression. In order to continue to correct ourselves as users, we have to protect and preserve the foundation that affords us the 'open' atmosphere we so enjoy.

BP is not a racist, hateful, homophobic, misogynistic community. It's not an intolerant community. But we come across at times, as all of the above. While I'm certainly concerned about how we're perceived, I'm far more concerned with what and how we *are*.

In this case, I could care less what the majority says and will adhere to what Clar said. This is his board. His rules. He asked for it to be toned down, and I will see to it that I do my part to tone it down. Majority or no.

Calling someone a grape smuggler once or twice, when appropriate, certainly won't provoke any administrative action from me. However, if it gets out of control, something must and will be done.

Okay here are My questions and My problems with this new policy then. And this is in general just using vr's post because it is the problem I have with these guidlines

So it wouldn't provoke anthing from vr? but what if vr doesn't think it is over the line but FKA does? Seems to Me that if you are going to have these kind of sanction in place they need to be cut and dry.

Maybe I think the use of the word grape smuggler is okay in one place but someone else doesn't think it's okay. So does that then make me in the wrong, because I thought I was using it in an appropiate matter but someone else didn't?

See where we start to run into some real sticky situations as to when things are allowed and when they are not?

The moderators and administrators have been selected with care and they are trusted to make good judgments concerning these issues. There have been, in the past, situations wherein there have been disagreements over whether warnings/bans have been necessary/warranted. They were dealt with. The system is fine, and will not change. If it seems to you that the sanctions aren't sufficiently 'cut and dry', then test the waters and see what happens. What I can promise you is that no one will be reprimanded without good cause. Again, for roughly the nineteenth time, this discussion is not the dawn of some new era in forum moderation. The word 'homo' is not being omitted from anyone's vocabulary. Very, very simply (hence the preschool teacher thing), all we are asking is for a small amount of attention to be paid by all posters to what they say and how it reflects on both themselves and the site as a whole.

All the mod's here know the regulars and their style. Those people will get the benefit of the doubt, but if questionable comments keep coming, then we'll use PM's. Take this for what it is worth, but if a couple of moderators can find a comment disturbing, rest assured that any visitor can as well. I cannot, for the life of me, understand why this is a big deal...but I guess it is. The safest thing would be to avoid toeing this line at all. If you have to, and you step over it, you could get PM'd or even warned. You all know how lenient we are, and how reluctant we are to give out warnings. If we see a problem, we will likely either (A) PM the author, (B) edit the post, or (C) both. If the comment is blatant, then a warning will be issued. This is common sense, people...if you don't bash homosexuals, this won't be a problem. End of story.

So I take it that the word "homo" is no longer allowed? I think we need to start a thread like the Al Gore invented...and just keep adding the words that people are offended by.

I also understand that Its Clar's board and he can do what he wishes, so I will abide by the rules.
