american idol gay bashing

I give up. This is getting old. :shake:

why? I just don't see how you think that comments like this are getting in the way? if you don't agree with them fine, but if we are truely about free speech then so be it,,,,it should be free speech for all not for just those who agree with your views. maybe I should start claiming I am offended any time someone takes a personal shot at conservative values, will you be the first one to defend me and delete threads that I feel are offensive towrds those values I hold?

you need to step back and read into my post. i'm saying that in GENERAL america has gotten way to sensitive. You can't call anyone this or that, becuase everyone is now a ______ american. people aren't short, they are veritically challenged, people aren't fat, they are "heavier", its all BS.

Dude, I was just looking for an excuse to call someone a homo. Rugby got the joke. I'll pop off whenever I want.

Clarity had asked that the gay references be toned down, and it seems like that was heeded for about a day, and now everyone is back to their old ways. It's getting really old. Why do you guys find it necessary to use the word "homo" so much?

Yeah, let's not confuse the situation. This may not be 'gay-bashing' in the purest sense of the term. Then again, we're not exactly putting out the friendliest of vibes to that certain sect of society. I wouldn't presume for a moment that people here should go out of their way to 'make nice' to any demographic, because such a thing as freedom of speech does exist and happens to be a major ideal around which this forum is constructed. Nevertheless, this thread and others like it are so glaringly one-sided that a perception - and not an unreasonable one - is formed that BuckeyePlanet is comprised entirely of vicious homophobes. Do I like American Idol? Shit no. Can't stand it. Makes my skin crawl. Do I look at the individual in question and see someone who commands respect? Nope. Do I think it's productive or even in good form to flay him/her (and by association all people like him/her) alive for no other reason than to get a good chuckle? Not really. Don't get me wrong. I could spend hours spouting off about who pisses me off and for what (paging women drivers...), but is that more likely to bring in potential women users or alienate them? For the average BP poster, this should not be a concern. For those of us who have taken on the responsibilities of moderation and administration, it absolutely should be. I can say without hesitation that I do not approve of outright censorship of anything said on this board, but taking into account that the opposing side of a discussion like this one is very likely not going to make itself heard or even known, it has been asked before and is being asked again now (could you tell?) that we white (likely) male hetero chauvinists turn 'it' down a notch, where 'it' means celebrating our own homogeneity at the express expense of others.

P.S. Sushi, you need to be concentrating on sinking the Crisp-Marte deal. Now get to it.

Is homo really that bad of a word, after all its only the shortened version of homosexual. Or is that not the PC term anymore?
