Alumni Tickets - New 2008 Policy

I did mine too, and got this info in the confirmation e-mail they sent:

Thank you for processing your Alumni Football Ticket Lottery Entry online!

You have been entered into a random ticket lottery. The Alumni Association is no longer using an alphabet break system to determine your specific game eligibility, and games are no longer pre-assigned. The Athletics Ticket Office is also no longer using the 'consecutive years' criteria to determine ticket priority. Names and games will be drawn randomly from all of the member ticket applications. There will be no special lottery for the Michigan game, and tickets to that game will be included in the random lottery along with all of the other home games. Additional information on the Alumni Association's ticket policy changes is available at www.ohiostatealumni.org/newscenter/football08.php.

DEFERRED PAYMENT AND LOTTERY NOTIFICATION: Your credit card has not been charged for game tickets at this time. Credit cards will be charged by the first week of July for those successful in the alumni ticket lottery. A random lottery will take place during the month of June and those who are successful will have their deferred payment processed for the price of the game tickets ($65 per ticket), and will be notified via e-mail in July. That particular notification will also include the game you won in the lottery. Please note there are NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES. Once you have been selected for a game, it cannot be switched nor your money refunded due to your displeasure with the game or other factors.

when hordes of 20 year alums don't get tickets and go apescat, this policy will be axed.

Don't count on it. Think about it this way, you join the alumni association, and get the chance to buy tickets. You go and you buy your tickets a few years in a row, and you keep getting denied. How likely are you to stay in the alumni association? Now a person in theory has just as much chance as getting a ticket be it they have been a member for a year or twenty years. Which do you think gets more people to give money to the alumni association?

This sucks! :(

I've been driving up from NC for at least one game a year for 14 years now. My wife and three kids are in a "rotation" to see who goes to the game with me, so each only gets to go about once every 3 or 4 years (my wife usually defers 'til the bowl game). If we start missing years my kids are going to go all "Cain and Able" on me (who gets to go to Ohio with dad is a big deal in my house). Maybe I'll start a lottery system and just randomly select a kid to go with me... that'll go over big.

BOOOOO!!!!!!

Maybe it's time to sign up random neighbors in the OSU alumni association. How well do they check? :wink2:

Very. They also have a drawer full of death certificates also, so they know when alumni die also. I know a few people who have gotten around this part, but seems like eventually they figure it out somehow. I also know people who have gotten married and they never tell the alumni association so that they can keep getting two ticket apps.

People like you are the ones that it is going to suck for the most I think, not only because of the situation with the wife and kids, but I would think that it may be hard for people farther away to make trip plans. They are not telling people what ticket they get until early July. The first game is in august. That is only 6-7 weeks to plan a trip, which could be hard for someone living farther away.

If it happens in the next 5 years (3 games), the first time I get TSUN tickets via this new lottery system will make me happy with it.

Exactly right. I guess I was spoiled knowing I was getting tix every year and knowing in advance what week it would be. ... the price of progress ...

At least I can drive up. People who have to fly have it much worse (Mili). I won't be flying to Columbus any time soon (thanks a lot Skybus!)

the ticket lottery online at The Ohio State Buckeyes Official Athletics Site - OhioStateBuckeyes.com.

the instructions on the back of this sheet to submit your online
application and ensure you are part of the ticket lottery.
c. Beginning in 2009, Alumni Association members will only be able to
register for the ticket lottery online at The Ohio State Buckeyes Official Athletics Site - OhioStateBuckeyes.com.
Association members are strongly encouraged to register online this
year to ensure that you will have a place in the ticket lottery next year.

a. Alumni Association member ticket applications will be accepted from
May 1 through May 31, 2008.
b. Late orders will not be accepted.
c. No refunds or exchanges. Once you have been selected for a game, it
cannot be switched nor your money refunded due to your displeasure
with the game or other factors. If you have not received your tickets
one week prior to the game, contact the Athletics Ticket Office at
[email protected].
d. Every person, regardless of age, must have a ticket to enter Ohio
Stadium. This includes infants.

4. NEW ALUMNI ASSOCIATION TICKET LOTTERY PROCESS FOR 2008
Anyone who is an active dues-paying member of the Association as of
March 1 and applies by May 31 will be entered into a random ticket lottery.
The Alumni Association is no longer using an alphabet break system
to determine your specific game eligibility, and games are no longer
pre-assigned. The Athletics Ticket Office is also no longer using the
?consecutive years? criteria to determine ticket priority. Names and games
will be drawn randomly from all of the member ticket applications. There
will be no special lottery for the Michigan game, and tickets to that game
will be included in the random lottery along with all of the other home
games. Additional information on the Alumni Association?s ticket policy
changes is available at Ohio State Alumni: Football Ticket Policy 2008.

5. SEATING ISSUES
a. Group Seating ? Once you have logged into your online ticket
application, you should locate the ?Comments/Group Seating Requests?
field. In this field, you will enter the Ticket ID and the Account Name of
the person(s) with whom you would like to request group seating. Keep
in mind given the random alumni lottery, only those who receive the
same game will have their group seating request considered.
b. Disability Seating ? Persons with permanent or temporary disabilities
should submit their seating needs directly on their online ticket
application in the ?Comments/Group Seating Requests? field.

6. PARKING
Parking is available for all Ohio State home football games. If you would
like more information on game-day parking, including detailed maps of
your parking options, please visit The Ohio State University Transportation and Parking Services.

7. CHANGES OF ADDRESS
a. It is your responsibility to notify both the Alumni Association and the
Athletics Ticket Office regarding any address changes. These changes
must be submitted via e-mail or in writing, not over the phone.
Notifying the Alumni Association alone of a change does not guarantee
that your address in the Athletics Ticket Office database will also be
updated. Address changes can be e-mailed to the Athletics Ticket Office
at [email protected] and to the Alumni Association at
[email protected]. You are encouraged to include your
former address when making an address change.
b. No in-care-of addresses will be accepted.

8. ABUSE OF TICKET PRIVILEGES
Tickets purchased through the Alumni Association allotment are
intended for the use of Association members and their friends only. At a
time when some Association members are not able to attend a game, it is
asked that members use their tickets and attend a game instead of using
them for other means. Reselling or scalping tickets purchased through the
Alumni Association allotment is a flagrant and unethical misuse of
assigned tickets.
Violation of the spirit in which the ticket privileges were intended could
lead to an accusation of ticket abuse. Willful or wanton disregard of ticket
rules, responsibilities, and university intentions of use could provide cause
for the Department of Athletics to attempt to rescind all ticket privileges
of the cited individual. Ticket privileges will be revoked if the evidence and
testimony presented during a hearing process prove ticket misuse.

9. DONATING TO THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
Applying for football tickets also gives you the opportunity to make a
donation to the Alumni Association. A field on the online form is available
for you to make a donation to the Association. Your contribution will
support a variety of strategic initiatives at the Association. For more
information on how your gift(s) to OSUAA may or may not be part of
the university's donor recognition group program please contact
Tony Vidmar, Senior Director of Development and Sponsorship at
[email protected]. Making a donation to the Alumni Association
does not improve your chances of receiving tickets in the random lottery.

Blocked at work...do I need to wait to register until I get something in the mail or can I do it now?

Ugh.

I am not sure about registering since I did many years ago. But I can buy tix right now. I thought I would still need some number on the ticket application but I signed in and I was ready to buy. BTW they went up another $3.
