That has nothing to do with Bama trying to "lessen the blame", which is part of the definition of excuse. In fact, it increases the blame, the opposite of an excuse. It's taking accountability.

IMO the leaders not stepping up on practice is a sin on par with not hustling during the game. You just want to find a way to hate everything Bama does.
Ragland finding an esoteric way of blaming players that left is taking responsibility? Sounds more like passing the buck and pointing fingers.

I agree with this.

If listing the reasons as to why your team lost a game you feel you should have won is just an exercise in excuse making, how do we think OSU fans must sound to MSU fans?
I'm sure they think we're arrogant jerks, but Beck is an actual problem that needs fixed. Nobody has been able to explain how better leadership and later draft analysis prevents Spencer from lighting up Ragland's backup after he tapped out.

Focus and leadership are major talking points after Elliott's arrest, particularly as continued problems for this team.

Was Cooper arrested before the game last year? Did Collins get caught with a hooker?
I'm not seeing the connection between 2015 Buckeyes and 2014 Tide.
Then you don't understand what makes a team great. There is a lot more to what happens on the field than the 60 minutes of fame time. Why do you think they practice more than fundamentals?

The similarities between 2010 Bama, 2014 Bama, and 2015 OSU are striking. A lot of this game is mental.

And the December, 2015 trophy goes to...

Ok. Cooper didn't get arrested last year. Collins didn't get caught with a hooker. Those are the only two question marks I saw in your posts.

Look, you're neglecting to realize that team chemistry and leadership are important. Is it hard to quantify? Yes, but you can tell when it's not there.

Of course not, because you want a bama bash session, not an analysis of how teams lose focus and dedication.

How about 2014 sugar bowl participant Michael Bennett who admitted that worrying and focusing on the draft hurt his play in 2014.

Sounds more like Rationalization.
Nobody said anything about team chemistry prior to the Sugar Bowl... and it sure didn't look like a team lacking chemistry or leadership at the time.
Just didn't have the guns to make it happen.

Really? Whose bashing? We're going with the "hater" tag now because neither of you can back up your points?
His excuses and finger pointing would've changed nothing for them in the Sugar Bowl.

Sorry for pointing out your inconsistency.
- You guys didn't have that many kids drafted high to claim it as an excuse
- Leadership or not wouldn't have done anything about Cardale trucking Bama players all night long
- Leadership wouldn't have done anything about the over-reliance on Cooper
- Leadership wouldn't have done anything about your suspect secondary
- Leadership wouldn't have done anything about your inability to stop our OLine and Eze.
Their players were laughing at the selection show. The overconfidence was incredibly obvious, but that doesn't fit your narrative in this thread, so you're pretending it was simply a problem of running into a buckeye buzzsaw (which was certainly a big part of it). Obviously they had tons of flaws and OSU had tons of undervalued talent. As GCash is saying - like countless other buckeyes have said - leadership, focus and hunger radically transform the performance and effort of a team oriented game.

I doubt there was much a leader could do at that point to fix it but it falls on them when it reaches that point. Just like there wasn't much that OSU could do in late November to fix the myriad of mental and schematic flaws that plagued their season. This buckeye squad is more talented than the 2014 version yet they would get obliterated by their younger, hungrier selves.

The focus of this buckeye team is way off. It's been that way since the start. That comes down to leadership and discipline. It also comes down to hunger, something that was severely lacking for a spoiled Bama team (who was given a NC berth as a birthright and then won most of them) and the 2015 Buckeye team (who was worshipped more than any OSU team I can recall).
It's pretty funny you suggested they not admit actual problems... and instead focus on intangible excuses for which nobody can lay a finger on how it actually effected the game.
- Admitting your secondary was suspect would be an actual problem ... but that's the one thing you advocated against admitting. And refused to admit the past couple months. I'm seeing a pattern. :slappy:
This is just flat out trolling. The difference is it's a shared target instead of the buckeyes.

That's like saying Elliott's finger pointing would have changed nothing for them. Obviously, because it's a fragmented and undisciplined team and locker room.

He's not saying Bama deserved to win if they had just focused better. He's saying the opposite: they deserved to lose because of those "excuses." That's why they weren't a complete team last year.

Do I think the LB should be trashing his former team in the media? No, just like Elliott shouldn't be trashing his coaches in the media. Both of them are probably correct and classless at the same time. If something needs to be said at all, he should take responsibility as part of the team who wasn't ready for OSU last year and vow that it would be different this year.

The defense is better, but the offense is worse.
I probably haven't watched enough of Bama this season to have noticed that big of a swing compared to your 2015 squad offensively. From afar, it seems that Coker has settled in a little bit, but they have been riding Henry so hard and so often that I can't really gauge how balanced their attack truly can be. I honestly assumed they were dishing to Henry so often in the last half of the season so that he gets a fair shot at the Heisman (and it worked well enough to win games). Saban and Bama are a grind-it-out power run team first (as is Meyer and OSU), so, the offense didn't appear to be a whole lot different to me this season.

Think Bama/Sparty will be a solid game, but I think Sparty plays into Bama's strengths too much, and Bama is the deeper squad.
