Alabama DB Hasean 'Ha Ha' Clinton-Dix (official thread)

Report: Alabama assistant strength coach provided money to Clinton-Dix

The Tuscaloosa News is reporting that Alabama assistant strength and conditioning coach Corey Harris has been placed on administrative leave for for providing impermissible benefits to safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix.

Nick Saban announced Wednesday that Clinton-Dix was suspended indefinitely for an unspecified violation of team rules. The Tuscaloosa News reported that "Harris made a short-term loan to Clinton-Dix in an amount less than $500 at some point this summer."

It was also reported that Alabama's compliance office discovered that Harris had a connection to a representative of a sports agent. However, the school found "no indication" that Clinton-Dix has had contact with said agent.

Has an internal investigation at an SEC school ever found wrongdoing?

With "internal investigation" being a euphemism for "covering their asses" based on extensive experience with NCAA investigations and incompetence.

Well if the Alabama compliance office and the Tuscaloosa News both say it's ok then it must be ok.

I mean it was only a short rem loan right? Not a long term one (which would be waaayyy worse).

It was also less than $500 which, again, is really no big deal. Just ask Devier Posey.

I also think the fact that an Alabama S&C coach has ties to a sports agent is just a coincidence. There is no way that could ever be a conflict of interest simply because, if it did happen, the player would be ineligible. When was the last time an SEC player was ineligible? If the kid is eligible, he couldn't have done anything wrong. Case closed.

Are you joking? Of course they've found improprieties. It's the SEC. Self reporting is where they've fallen short.

My favorite "SEC Doesn't Cheat" theory is that all SEC teams spy on each other because that's what happens in big boy football. If SEC teams are not reporting their conference rivals, they're not cheating.

Wasn't Cam Newton ineligible for a day of practice? And I believe that the LSU rapist was ineligible for a few practices before he was allowed back onto the team by a vote of his teammates.

So there. You and your snarky cynicism about SEC! morals and priorities stand corrected.

if by rapist, you mean Jeremy Hill, he sat out the entirety of what would have been his freshman year with no scholarship.

if you're meaning his punishment for a bar fight, he sat out the TCU game and part of the next game as well.

There now, that didn't take very long. Nothing to see here....move along folks.

Alabama starting safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix has been reinstated from his two-game suspension after being notified by the NCAA that he is again eligible to play, the school announced Friday.

For those that missed it: if you, without question, violate an NCAA rule about accepting money....but play for Alabama, you get a 2 game suspension. If you get accused of doing something at a dance club that was found to be neither a NCAA rule violation nor a criminal violation ...but play for Ohio State, you get a 3 game suspension.

You have to specify which incident is being talked about.

Just saying.

I agree.

i don't know the complete details of what happened in high school.
i do know that he was 18 and she was 14.

in High School, a 3 year age gap is not completely unheard of (not uncommon for a SR to date a FR).
however, when I was in school, the whole age of consent thing was prominent in all of our minds, so there should be no excuse for him being with her.

him being a stud football player who had multiple games nationally televised means he probably had a lot more options for a piece of ass than we did in school.
choosing to get a blow job from someone young enough to get him arrested was colossally stupid and he's lucky his punishment wasn't harsher than it was.

as far as his bar fight, I still say the same for him as i did when Jefferson was arrested for one.

if his name was Joe Smith, regular college-aged schmuck, no one would ever known it even happened.
most bar fights down here don't even end up in an arrest. let alone a court date, and national media attention.

That he probably had his choice of ass, and he chose to go after a 14 year old girl, when he was 18, I think shows that he has some serious mental issues. Future member of the Sandusky breed? Who knows? But when you allow someone to a free pass, they feel invincible. Les Miles and a judge had a chance to stop it, but when you have a potential crystal football dangling in front of you... some things are more important.
