I forgot about this forum this season until this game. I thought it was a good time to stop by and take my lumps.
This team was fatally flawed before the season began. Losing dylan Moses was huge. He was the guy who was going to line up the defense. We lost to other linebackers as well.
saban, for a variety of reasons, had a couple of missed seasons recruiting at the linebacker position. The team wasn’t able to recover. Saban wasn’t able to simplify the defense enough for the true freshmen that were now starters.
I don’t know what the deal is with the penalties. This has been a problem for two years. Possibly a symptom of losing so many assistants? That’s the real story of this game. Not the kicker. Bama isn’t going to make kicks. But 13 penalties is atrocious. Stupidity and lack of attention to detail is what lost the LSU game as well. Not a Saban trademark for sure.
Not a bad season overall. The last time Bama lost an iron bowl in the voodoo land that is Jordan Hare, Saban made the wholesale changes that were required to return to prominence.
It will be interesting to see what happens next season. Will Tua’s draft stock fall and force him to return? (He doesn’t have draft drop insurance) Will Bryce Young beat out Mac Jones? Will the defense improve? How will the offense look after ALL the WRs leave? Can discipline return?
the rest of this season will be amazing. Bama will get stomped by whoever they play in the bowl game. That’s what they do.
the LSU/OSU game should be a classic. Admittedly, I’m rooting for LSU just so I can hear Orgeron give a victory speech I can’t understand.
