Alabama -9.5 at LSU (ov/un 41.5) Sat 8 CBS

crazy game. this win also crushed the spirit of the Irish. I'm sure they were licking their chops to get into that 2 spot. so sorry, your "signature win" over PITT isn't as impressive as LSU.

We could beat these two turds by 2 touchdowns...

As much as I love the Buckeyes, I can't agree with that statement. I don't think Urban Meyer would, either.

I take it you haven't spent much time around the irish. Perhaps we can explain them to you also.

What an avalanche of fail in one sentence.

Surviving Pitt = "signature win"

Alabama was never in the #2 slot, so that comparison makes no sense.

The team actually in the #2 slot just notched a signature win over USC (who remains absurdly overrated despite refusing to play defense). If only Notre Dame was also traveling to the Coliseum to play the Trojans :so:

He put signature win in quotes for sarcasm. And if Bama lost, they drop out of top 3 with Oregon likely #1 and ND #2

had bama lost, ND may have slid up to 2 in the coming weeks.

Irish fan: every team needs a signature win on their way to a national championship. *I laugh at the notion of PITT being that win*

and yet it still makes no sense, with or without any sarcasm.

In no scenario is Bama's signature win a relevant comparison to ND.

If they lost, they would sink below ND (and stay there with the media adoration).

If they won, then ND continues to battle with Oregon in a popularity contest. ND's trump card is they face both USC & Stanford and already beat OU, meaning Oregon's "signature wins" are also in ND's back pocket, in a hypothetical where they both win out.

I struggle with understanding how guys who have been around football all of their lives, can be so epically shitty at game management.

To not take a delay of game with 1:30 in the game, and pin Alabama deep with a punt, especially with a field goal kicker with a career long of 43 yards is the correct decision 12 out of 10 times.

Even if you make the kick, you are only up 6 with 1:20 left. You punt, and immediately Alabama is thinking tie rather than win.

It's just really elementary.
