Alabama -9.5 at LSU (ov/un 41.5) Sat 8 CBS

I don't understand why people think Bama's D > Oregon's O. That's the matchup I think everyone wants to see. If it happens, I think Oregon will win. In no world would I ever want to see and undefeated ND or an undefeated K State play in the NCG over and undefeated Oregon.

For the same reason Ohio State beat them in the Rose Bowl. The defensive and offensive lines for Ohio State owned the day. Bama's lines are even stronger and as yesterday has shown, this Oregon team is almost exactly the same as previous versions.

I'd take Bama by 2 TDs at least on a neutral field.

If I understand the current computer rules, how tight the game against Pitt was doesn't matter. The computers look at a 3OT win against a crappy team no different than if it had been a 52-7 plungering. Is that still correct?

God, I hope you're right, but I've seen enough to know that the domers will somehow squeak in ahead of an undefeated K-State or Oregon. The sportswriters and espin are foaming at the [censored]ing mouth for a bama-domer game.

Lack of a championship game will hurt them a little but only vis-a-vis Oregon. K-State also doesn't have a CG

I'm sure that Swarprick will get on the horn to the ACC and issue them an ultimatum that the domers get to play in the ACC championship game if it's necessary for their national championship hopes.

MOV doesn't go into computer rankings but it will affect them in the human polls. Pitt doesn't help them in terms of computer SOS though unless I am missing something, which is entirely possible. I haven't paid much attention to BCS standings this year.

I really think older guys like us are overly concerned with media love for ND because we remember how bad it used to be.

The Domers to me are like the guy who goes away to war, doesn't get word to his wife he's alive for like 20 years and now when he comes home finds out she's moved on in a big way to this handsome, strapping lad from the south who cares how her day was, notices when she gets her hair done and is swinging a foot long dick. Meanwhile, he's standing there in the door, shiny new hat in hand, looking like the same old boring ass, drunken Irishman who's fortunes rely almost exclusively on what he can get friends to do for him that he was 20 years ago.

The sports media as a collective are a bunch of ignorant sluts, no doubt, but they aren't going back the Irish just yet. Not while the Zomg SEC!!! and Oregon SPEED!!1! are still knocking the bottom out of it and giving them more money than they've ever had. It's going to take ND a while to win her back over.

I'm not worried about media bias getting ND into the BCS Title Game. I don't think ND can get to the BCS Title game unless 2 of the 3 other teams get a loss. I can't see very many pollsters putting them ahead of an undefeated Oregon or an undefeated Kansas State (who also won at Norman), and they'll drop a little in the computers over the next two weeks with BC and Wake Forest on the schedule. Oregon's computer ranking will go up over the next 4 weeks, and the computers love the Big XII.

so after having a little time to detox and think about it again, my feelings haven't changed much.

there are only 3 offensive plays I would change from last night.

  • should have punted instead of the fake FG.
  • when Ware went in at QB, they needed to either run the option wide with Ware and Ford, or lineup Ware in Shotgun, or hand off to Hill and let him do his thing.
  • pooch punt rather than that last FG attempt.

defense has been our saving grace for years, but I was disappointed in them a few times now this year.
Chavis backs off too often at the end of halves. That god damn prevent defense has given up quick scores at the end of USCe, aTm, and now Bama.

up 2 scores, i still don't like it, but it is what it is.

up 3 pts in Death Valley? attack and finish off your opponent.

our normal D completely shutdown Bama in the 2nd half. well until there was 90 seconds left in the game.

god dammit!
losing that game hurt.

might be the toughest loss i've attended since i'm not sure when.
probably since the '08 Bama game that we lost in Overtime.

but this one really stung. this was our chance to get back into the West race.
this kept our slim BCS CG hopes alive.

and as I said before, 1:30 to go, with our defense on the field needing just 1 more stop.

sign me up for that any day and I like our chances.

being in that situation in front of a record crowd in Death Valley?
i'm putting money on us in that situation.

the opposing team driving into the North endzone of Death Valley (student section, and the *haunted* end of the stadium)?

oh hell yeah, no way we lose that game.

*seen some crazy shit happen on that end of the field over the years.

Exactly what Mike said. Everything in Oregon's offenses is predicated
On their ability to run the zone read. Bama shuts down the run.
Especially east to west. Plus the Duckies don't have the backs to go
North-south consistently. Bama would take away the run and wear
Their defense down.

like Kelly said after we beat them last year "those guys don't look like the guys we play everyday"

Bama's D is at least on par with the D we had last year.

It's already been mentioned, but it's the trenches. Oregon isn't used to playing teams that can play defense. This is the same Oregon team that a few years ago blew out their competition in the reguilar season, then got dominated in the championship game. This year is no different. Oregon would not and will not beat Alabama in a championship game. I'm not saying K-State or ND would either, I still think Alabama will repeat unless they're upset in the SEC championship.

Because they are unbelievable in the trenches, and that's what stops Oregon's high flying offense.

OSU did it. Auburn did it, and their D was pretty iffy except for that disruptive DL. Boise did it.

You can't run with Oregon. You have to change their lanes upfront.

Then on the other side of the ball, Oregon will get mauled by an incredible OL.

I'm w/ ya Nutria. This one still hurts.

I think it hurts because I felt like they played more than good enough to win it. Mett showed up, our receivers actually started catching the ball, the offensive playcalling was good, and we were even able to run the ball efficiently on them.

I'm not going to pile on miles for misses on the chances he took. If they work, everyone's saying how good of a call they were. The only thing I wish we had back was the 4th and 1 w/ the wildcat. JC Copeland was a monster last night. I would have loved to have seen them run behind him for a shot at 1 yard.

I hate that the best game I've ever been to in Tiger Stadium was a loss. That place was off it's rocker last night.
