Alabama 41, scum 14 (final)

Betting on Alabama was literally some of the easiest money I have ever made. Not even necessarily a knock on that team that got devastated, really, but it was obvious to me before, during and after that game they are not in the same class as Alabama.

They are a solid team but they lack playmakers on both sides of the ball. And half the passes their quarterback throws are jump balls.

It's hilarious when you hear the bottom feeders like Kentucky, and Vandy chant that. I'm like, you do realize your teams suck, right?

It's also hilarious when the resident jester pretends like "we lost four straight bowl games before not even going to a bowl for two years and then getting embarrassed by Mississippi State" Michigan has added much of anything beneficial to the "conference prestige" discussion on behalf of the Big Ten in the past decade or so.

Newsflash, UM has been barely better than Kentucky and Vandy right up until last season... and they jumped right back down with their performance against Alabama on Saturday.

I'm also not thumping my chest over bowl wins by B1G teams. Which is what the conversation is about.

In response to whatever Mike just said: You're right, how stupid of me to think that Michigan fans could put aside their arrogance and stupidity long enough to give credit to anyone else in the conference no matter how terrible and insignificant their own performances on the football field have been for years. Clearly that's what separates the "Michigan man" from those lowly fools at Kentucky and Vanderbilt.

That is really what the conversation is about? The thread is titled "Alabama 41 scum 14". Sorry, but the conversation is about the emasculation that scUM suffered on the football field, and not what you tried to steer the conversation to in one of your posts.

By the time I got to sit and turn on this game (had a game of my own I was coaching) it was already over. Hell, who am I kidding, this game was over when it was scheduled! The only things left to be seen were (a) how bad the beating was going to be on the scoreboard; (b) how bad the physical beating Denard was going to take would be; (c) would Denard survive the game; (d) how any pathetic, arrogant, scUM fan would attempt to rationalize the inevitable carnage.

Looks like I nailed Mike's response without even seeing it (see it now thanks to prof's quote). Does it ever make you sad to think that your troll act is so predictable?

Also, I gotta agree with the prof, this thread is about mocking Michigan's pathetic and embarrassing performance on the field, no whatever inane tangent you try to jester the thread towards.

and yet Usc, Miami, FSU, pre B1G PSU all were juggernauts without tough conferences or schedules.

And let's watch this very site when a TCU, a Boise State, a Hawaii or Notre Dame goes 12 and 1 and demands a BCS slot. Suddenly the same folks that bitch about "SEC, SEC" will be all over the "They didn't play in a conference, they didn't have to play a CCG!" Or wait till Cincinnati, or Georgia Tech gets a BCS slot ahead of the Buckeyes and suddenly the site is awash with "SOS" and conference-top-to-bottom comparisons.

You can't have it both ways in this disagreement. Either your schedule - in conference and out of conference - and your conference matters, or it doesn't. I chose to believe it does and that the polls reflect that.

Guess which conference seems quite lousy in terms of depth? The mighty SEC. But their official sponsored propaganda network hides that well, so very few people realize it this year, just like a couple other years during their dominant run.

It's a 2, maybe 3 team conference, like many BCS conferences are most years.

South Carolina is their usual one-dimensional O self, riding the coattails of LSU/Bama for outrageously high rankings.

Georgia seems destined for yet another year of woeful underachieving.

Florida is still a trainwreck.

I need to see Tenn & Arkansas against good teams. Mizzou & ATM are your standard one side of the ball B12 squads (and I'm not sure Mizzou will be that effective in conference on O).

Maybe the SEC will prove to have 5 strong clubs, but the point remains. As it stands now, they look extremely suspect, yet that gets ignored because of financial deals with the main place people get their CFB updates.

Spot on. If Vandy beats S. Carolina the media thumps its chest about how strong the $EC is. Northwestern beats Wisky and the media tells us the B1G is weak and slow. Bammer and LSU have bragging rights. It reminds me of K State and UCLA fans whining about not getting respect. No shit. That is for Texa$, Oklahomo, U$C, and Phil Knight Univ.

It's about time people started saying "fuck you" to conference loyalty. Do we all really want to be the Kentucky's of the football world? Running around like we did something because Bama or LSU won a national championship? fuck that.

First of all, who the hell is we?

When tOSU wins its next championship, you can decide what you want to do. If you've managed to not be perma-banned before then, you can tell us at that time if you choose to.

I don't think I have to worry about how I'll feel about TSUN winning one. The Coaches poll started in 1950, and just to remind you, TSUN has never finished #1 in it.

If Nebraska wins one, I'll be happier than if the SEC or a team from another conference wins one, but I won't be chanting 'B-1-G'. But as cinci has pointed out, overall conference strength is a factor in the public perception that allows a team to get into position for a National Championship game. An undefeated B1G champion should be in the top-4 of the new playoff setup for the foreseeable future after that new format starts in 2014; but a 1-loss B1G champion will be subject to the whims of poll voters who are influenced by the soundtrack of the national media.

So I pulled for NW'ern to beat Syracuse, and for Sparty to down Boise State. I was relieved when Iowa, Wiscy, and Minnesota barely avoided embarrassing losses.

But since they're a loathed rival in a class by themselves, I didn't mind watching TSUN get hammered - even if it was by Saban and Bama.

BTW, B-1-G just doesn't roll off the tongue like S-E-C S-E-C S-E-C.:tongue2:

I understand the importance of conference strength but I will never ever root for TSUN, Sparty, Wisky, Iowa or Pee (S) Eww. Schools like NU, Purdue and Minnesota are cute the way they try so hard, tough to dislike them. I still don't dislike Nebraska, they still don't feel like a rival. Illinois and Indiana are hardly even worth thinking about.

I'm not sure Iowa groups well with the rest...
