I mustve dreamed a thousand dreams of us beating Texas
Been haunted by a million screams of the last two bowl games
But I can hear the marching feet as script Ohio is performed
Theyre moving into the street and setting couches on fire when we beat texas

Now did you read the news today that Genesis sucks
They say the dangers gone away and so is Phil's hair
But I can see the fires still alight as people pray for a new OC
They're burning into the night as Heacock developes his game plan.....

Theres too many men and too many football injuries this year
Too many people, and to many cops at the tailgates
Making too many problems and bringing me down, man!
And not much love to go round or intermediate passes thrown on offense.
Cant you see we need to throw to the TE more and keep Texas guessing!
This is a land of confusion after Beenie stiff arms you to the ground Bevo

This has been an Amybuckeye production

Not gonna lie, thats what I immediately thought of when the announcers of the BCS Selection Show said that if Texas wins and wins big they could vie for an AP National Championship as did USC in 2003, but that if we won, it would be similar to us blocking Arizona State from sharing a national title back in 1996-1997.

Eery similarities between the two games:

1996 Arizona State
Rank: #2
Record: 11-0
Reason for being left out of National Championship: Pac 10 and Big 10 had no agreement with the then Bowl Alliance, leaving the two conference champions to play in the Rose Bowl, and the Sun Devils out of New Orleans to play #1 Florida.
Quarterback: Jake Plummer 179/313 2,575 yards 23 TD / 9 INT, 85 carries for 63 yards 3 TD, finalist for Davey O'Brien Award, Walter Camp Award, Unitas Award, and Heisman Trophy.
Opponent: #4 Ohio State (10-1) led by Butkus Award winner Andy Katzenmoyer and Thorpe Award winner Antoine Winfield. The Buckeyes shared the Big Ten Championship with Northwestern.

2008 Texas
Rank: #3
Record: 11-1
Reason for being left out of National Championship: Big 12 conference has really fucked up tie-breaker rules, leaving Texas out of their own conference championship to play #2 Florida.
Quarterback: Colt McCoy 291/357 3,445 yards 32 TD / 7 INT, 128 carries for 576 yards 10 TD, finalist for Davey O'Brien Award, Walter Camp Award, and Heisman Trophy.
Opponent: #10 Ohio State (10-2) led by 2006 Nagurski Award winner, 2007 Butkus Award winner and 2008 Bednarik Award finalist James Laurinaitis and Thorpe Award finalist Malcolm Jenkins. The Buckeyes shared the Big Ten Championship with Penn State.

good comparison, except Florida State was #1 on the merit of beating Florida, and Winfield didn't win the Thorpe 'til '98. it was Shawn Springs that was stud DB.

You are correct, damn a couple of bonehead moments there for me! I went ahead and fixed the original post, #1 Florida State (as Florida was #3 at the end of the regular season) and eventual Thorpe Award winner, Antoine Winfield!
