Trying to track these down, thanks for the heads up. Without the ad chain data I actually have to find the ads myself, and this time of year sometimes it's regional stuff. Will sort it out.
I'll try to remember to do a "view source" on the page next time, but I'm guessing the code will only be something that calls out to an ad server which will serve up whatever it thinks is appropriate...

Yeah, you'd really need something like Firebug to isolate the ad and its entire chain. We know those positions go to USAT, they they go off to a remnant provider, who often has their own remnant providers, who often have their own remnant providers.

It's a big steaming pile of Mark May.

OK, not once, not twice, but three times in the last five minutes I've gotten ads in a thread page which force the ad to be at the top of the visible screen, so even if you scroll down or up past it, it snaps back up to where the top of the ad of flush with the top of the browser window (snap-anchored). It's the center ad which is within the first post of a thread page. I even held the vertical scroll bar once I scrolled past the ad and I could see the browser fighting between staying where I had scrolled and going back up to the ad. This obviously makes page unreadable. I was so pissed at it I didn't note which company the ads were for, but I will if it happens again.

Every page I go to, either the left side mid page ad space or the right side top ad space has an auto run video ad that squeeks in and out of audio even if my cursor is no where near it.

It has been doing this to me as well all week on my PC no matter if I use Chrome or Firefox. It really jams up the site and is doing it right now as I attempt to type. Interestingly enough, it is not an issue on my IPAD using Safari.

Any further details about the ad? Even if someone can use something simple like Ghostery to figure out the offending network, that would help. Without being able to load the ad myself (and I've been looking for this one and haven't yet found it) I have to have some info to take to USAToday and Google.

Thanks all, continuing to hunt these down as much as possible and squash them.

Sometimes it can help to sort of over-ride ads by visiting sites that produce contextual ads based on your cookies. For example, go to the official Brooks Brothers, Mack Weldon, June (an oven), and BigAssFans websites. Just load them once. Most of your ads will then be for those sites. That's not a solution, squashing them is, but it can certainly provide relief.

I've got LYRICS stuff popping up everywhere... I select a thread and another tab pops up with an ad...numerous times with auto-start video

video ads pop up all the time during reading a thread.. like when I got the end of this thread to post...
which is alarming when you're trying to read a thread in stealth

I followed a LYRICS link and thought I deactivated it
then selected another thread and got this solid red page about The Following Page May be Harmful.. which is the third time in a week I've gotten that one
