I've pulled all the ads off of the site. Please let me know if, in the process, I've broken something along the way. I've checked it all out, and think everything's clean, but always want to put a note out just in case someone sees something I don't.

SportsWar is no more. I'll have more to say about this in the relatively near future.

Honestly, I didn't even really notice that they were gone. The way it was set up I felt like they were not a distraction and I didn't have a problem with them at all. If you need/want to bring advertising back to the site at some point in the future once whatever issues you are having are resolved I say go for it.

Thanks again for everything that you do for this site by the way, it can't be said enough.

BuckeyePlanet is bar none the greatest online sports forum and news source for all things Buckeye on the internet.

I appreciate all of that.

We will almost certainly have to bring ads back to the site. I just don't yet know from where or whom they will come.

This has all happened very suddenly. Once we have a few things sorted out, I'll start a discussion here.

Clarity-
I always thought that the way you presented the ads on this site were very tasteful. When I have gone to in the other site (did I say that), I always felt like I was being blasted by the advertisements just the way they were presented. I have never felt that way on BuckeyePlanet. I am sure that these probably will be tough times getting good advertisers the way the economy is going and we appreciate all of your efforts. BuckeyePlanet is truly an enjoyable site. Thanks to you and all of the other guys and girls:).

No problems so far with overheating.
So, grad, you stay out of the Romper Room?

Seriously, since I'm one of those who had "freeze-up" problems with SportsWar, it may be worth noting that I've had no such issues since the ads went the way of the passenger pigeon.

A new set of ads is being tested in the banner, so I'm just bumping this thread in case there is anything to be reported.

I'm having some slow-ish load times this morning.

Load times are very slow for me also. What is "NoScript" and how do you activate it? I use IE as my browser.

NoScript is a customizable script blocker for FireFox

There is no direct equivalent for IE - though IE8 will have a dumbed down version based on Filters. The NoScript developer provides a good (pithy) assessment of the virtues of Microsoft's attempt to play catch up.

You may be able to get some of the functionality afforded by NoScript from other add-ons for IE Explorer - or simply move to FireFox.
