Adam "Pacman" Jones (Cincinnati Bengals)

Has he even been charged with a crime? I know he has not been convicted of anything.

I don't think so, I believe the Vegas club thing was pretty much turned into a slap on the wrist and told "if you stay out of trouble we'll just forget about this" whereas if it was anyone who wasn't famous or rich they'd be sitting in jail.

i personally think that a whole year is way to much. I think henry should have gotten like 4-6 games and pacman should have gotten 6 -8 no more then 8.

Yes he acts like a thug and keeps getting into "trouble" but he hasnt been charged/convicted of anything. So there for he should be punished as he has.

  • The standard of socially responsible conduct for NFL employees will be higher. Club and league employees will be held to a higher standard than players. Conduct that undermines or puts at risk the integrity and reputation of the NFL will be subject to discipline, even if not criminal in nature.
  • Discipline for individuals that violate the policy will include larger fines and longer suspensions.
  • Repeat violations of the personal conduct policy will be dealt with aggressively, including discipline for repeat offenders even when the conduct itself has not yet resulted in a conviction of a crime.
  • Individuals suspended under the policy must earn their way back to active status by fully complying with professional counseling and treatment that will include evaluation on a regular basis.
  • Clubs will be subject to discipline in cases involving violations of the Personal Conduct Policy by club employees. In determining potential club discipline going forward, the commissioner will consider all relevant factors, including the history of conduct-related violations by that club's employees and the extent to which the club's support programs are consistent with best practices as identified and shared with the clubs. Recommended best practices include having a full-time club player development director and a full-time club security director.

Think of it this way - Goodell has sent a message, and a darned clear one at that. Screw up big time and you will lose big money, you will lose all or the better part of a season.

If nothing else this should act to deter others from falling into bad habits, in with bad crowds and make them take more care. Plus - for the love of Mike - hire a cab or limo service to avoid DUI arrests.

Oh, and for the record, I don't think the punishments were too harsh.

I disagree, I think it was right on, I think when you have had as many issues as this guy it's time to do something and since theres others in the league that seem to look at this and go "meh, worst that happens is I get a day off" is not good.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2790090

That article shows everything the guy has done since he's been in the NFL, he's got friends around him who are shooting people in clubs, this is seriously turning into that ESPN show "playmakers" and I thought that show was horrible :(

A season suspension is the perfect suspension for Pacman, even more because of all the other things he has done in the past, and they have all come really back to haunt him and costed him a season.

Now I know he is losing money from this, but is he still getting paid for his season salary by the Titans? I'm a little confused about that part. If I had to make a guess, I would think he wouldn't be but I'm unsure....

Really? Here's his rap sheet since entering the NFL...he's been arrested ten (that's 10 ) since entering the NFL two years ago.

Legal troubles
As of March 2007, Jones has been arrested ten times since he was drafted by the Titans in 2005. Many NFL commentators are quick to point out that Jones has more arrests than interceptions since being in the NFL.[2]

[edit] 2005

On July 13, 2005 Jones was arrested on charges of assault and felony vandalism stemming from a nightclub altercation.
On September 5, 2005 Jones was a guest at the annual Nashville Sports Council Kickoff Luncheon. After a loud verbal tantrum when he was told to wait in line for his vehicle later that evening, Jones was counseled by the police. He also refused to pay for any valet services used that evening.
In October 2005, in a petition filed by the State of West Virginia, it was alleged that Jones had not made regular and sufficient contact with his probation officer and that he did not report his July arrest in Nashville in a timely fashion. The court ordered the probation extended for a period of 90 days, although the state requested it to be extended one year.

[edit] 2006

On August 25, 2006, Jones was arrested in Murfreesboro, Tennessee for disorderly conduct and public intoxication after claiming that a woman stole his wallet. She claimed that she did not steal anything and Jones spat on her. Police officers said they ordered Jones to leave several times, but he refused, continuing to shout profanities at the woman. A judge granted him six months probation on the conditions that he stays out of further trouble and away from the nightclub.[3]
On October 26, 2006. Jones was cited for misdemeanor assault for allegedly spitting in the face of a female student from Tennessee State University during a private party at Club Mystic, a Nashville nightclub. He was suspended by the Titans for one game and was scheduled to be booked on the charge on November 17, 2006.

[edit] 2007

During the 2007 NBA All-Star Game weekend in Las Vegas (Feb. 16-18, 2007), Jones is alleged to have been involved in an altercation with an exotic dancer at a local strip club. According to the club's co-owner, Jones approached the stage with a garbage bag filled with approximately $81,000[4] in one-dollar bills. Jones proceeded to throw the money into the air over the exotic dancers for a dramatic effect, an act known as "making it rain" or performing a "rain dance". Becoming enraged when one of the dancers began taking the money without his permission, Jones grabbed her by her hair and slammed her head on the stage. A security guard intervened and scuffled with members of Jones' entourage of half a dozen people, during which time Jones allegedly bit the guard on the lower leg. Jones then allegedly threatened the guard's life.[5] After the patrons of the club exited, the club owner says a person in Jones' entourage returned with a gun and fired into a crowd, hitting three people, including the security guard involved in the earlier skirmish. Although the guard was shot twice, one of the people hit, former professional wrestler Tommy Urbanski, was paralyzed from the waist down.[6] Jones maintains that he did not know the shooter, although the club's owner insists that Jones did.[7] On March 26, 2007 the Las Vegas Police recommended to the city's district attorney that Jones be charged with one count of felony coercion and also a misdemeanor count of battery and a misdemeanor count of threat to life. [8].
More trouble followed Jones after the altercation, when drug dealer Darryl Moore reported to the police after being busted during a deal about his phone conversations with Jones. "We gotta slow down, man. We gotta get him focused on football, man. He's focused on too much other shit," Moore is alleged to have said. Wiretapped phone conversations between Moore and his friends revealed Moore talking about how Jones bet on college games to earn quick money. "You know, I was talkin' to him the other day about smokin', and he was like 'man, if I didn't smoke I couldn't take all the stress that I'm dealing with right now,'" Moore said.[9]
Jones also is set to appear in a Fayetteville, Georgia court in 2007 for his February 2006 incident on subpoenas for felony and misdemeanor obstruction of justice charges for an incident outside a home. The charges of marijuana in the same state were dismissed.[10] Jones has not been connected to the Moore drug arrests or convicted for the Vegas stripper incident. But Titans management have said they will talk to Jones about his future with the Titans, and that there is always a possibility of letting him go. The NFL has issued an investigation into the situation, which is looking into setting up stricter penalties for off-field conduct.[11]

What do you suppose an NCAA player would recieve for this? I applaud the commish for taking a stance.

what was he convicted of?
So somebody that has been arrested 10 times, regardless of convictions should be allowed to continue to act like an idiot and do so unabated? Where there's smoke, there's fire. He at the very least has continually put himself in bad situations and hasn't learned a single lesson. The NFL has developed a personal conduct policy (like many corporations), and Pacman is obviously not following it. Good ridance.

I think the punishment is weak. If I got arrested 10 times, no matter if I was convicted or not I would have been discharged. Actually, at about the third time it would be bye bye. Just because you make millions doesn't give you the right to act like an idiot.

This guy is trash, and a thug, it's sad that garbage like this gets talent to make millions
right there with you homey. good call!

I will be suprised if this guy makes it back to the NFL. 1 whole year of free time. :pimp: hide the women and children
