Abortion debate (Split from Obama Thread)

While I agree totally, there are those who believe it is their right to make a choice as in Pro Choice. But for me, murder by any name is still murder.

I know this is controversial, but when you end life, it is murder.

When does a life begin?

Yep. I have less of a problem with zygoteicide, but I have a huuuuuge problem with late term abortion, which is to me murder, given the advances of modern medicine to save premmies. Tough call. I admit that nobody should have to bear a rapist's child, nor should a 14 year old have to bear her sexually abusive father's kid.

But therein lies the problem: when is it a life? It seems to me that allowing it first term and not second is a cop-out. Now, it is without question - IMHO - that some people have better lives if they are not required to have a child at at time when they are not able. Very few of the pro-lifers want to adopt the bi-racial crack whore babies, no matter what they say, and it seems better to end the pregnancy that to subject them to a life of un-loved hell. I admit that I am closer to "no abortion" than I was before I became a parent. Like all important issues, it is a hard one.

Only if you do so unlawfully.

Where are all the "woman's body is her own and it is up to her what happens to her body" people about the octuplet mom ?

I hadn't read a word about this until this morning.

I was shocked (to say the least) that she was already a single mother of SIX!!! What the hell was she thinking?

Anyway...

It ain't so much a question of not knowing what to do.
I knowed what's right and wrong since I was ten.
I heared a lot of stories and I reckon they are true
About how girls're put upon by men.
I know I mustn't fall into the pit,
But when I'm with a feller,
I fergit!
I'm just a girl who cain't say no,
I'm in a terrible fix
I always say "come on, let's go!"
Jist when I orta say nix...

I can't for the life of me understand how these political/religoius topics make it to the non-political/religious areas of Buckeye Planet?
This ground has been beaten more than a dead horse!

Abortion is only partially a political and religious issue...it is also a medical issue, an ethical issue, a societal issue, and a cost issue. I see nothing wrong with it being here.

I understand the angst about what this woman has done. But, it is probably left in the Poli forum where people can fully express their religious opinion without turning the Philosophical Forum into another Religious/Biblical Discussion Forum.

Where exactly have we been having the religious discussions again, taos?

I think the poli mods have this under control.
