A Few Post-Game Thougthts....

I still don't understand why we didn't try for some of the quick stuff.....much like what they were doing to us and what USC did to Michigan. Drop into the shotgun and run the slants, screens, draws that are almost always there. Doesn't give UF time to get to Smith then. Where was the QB draw we saw so much against Texas last year? I know we lost that game too but it was effective. While the D is getting into the backfield your running right by them..........

Agreed. I also don't understand passing routes that are 1 or 2 yards short of a first down. For godsakes...route forward 2 yards and be done with it.

Ok then, Alex Boone sucked and looked like he was running in cement last night.

Does that sound classy?
lol

i was impressed with flordia's d & o play calling.. cant say the same for us. leak took what we gave him with our bend but dont break d.. it seemed we were waiting for him to make a mistake instead of us forcing one.

our o-line was horrible. but if everyone wants to know the secret to our success this year on o.. it's balance. we didnt establish any sort of running game. they didn't stop our running game either. the run opens the pass (especially after losing TG2) and then in turn the pass will open the run.

the only thing i can think is because they were going no tailback we only rushed 3 or 4 but idk, it was frustrating.. after teddy was gone i was hoping we would get to see ray small come in for a screen here or a fly there.

all around, just not good but what can you do? they played out of their minds and we played like straight ass compared to our potential.. thats probably the most frustrating part

Yeah I ditto the same on Ray Small... I don't care if he's not experienced etc... I think at that point you have to get SOMEONE out there who has similar abilities with the ball. I like Hartline/Gonzo/Robo/Hall/whoever else.. but why not give a kid a chance if he has speed to burn, and thats what we were in dire need of with Ginn out? It probably wouldn't of worked but couldn't have been worse right??

Would someone please hit me and wake me up from this bad dream?

Gators were awesome last night. Ted Ginn would have been inconsequential to the outcome, IMHO, because FL never gave Troy an opportunity to be effective, period. It even seemed to me, possibly, that some of their sacks could have had much greater physical impact than they did. If so, then how bad is it when the DL has such total control they can back off a bit with light tackles?

I'm not saying we would've won if we had Ted but he changes the entire complexion of the game. Florida wouldn't keep bringing the pressure if he was in there because they know they'd be at serious risk to get burned by the deep ball. Ted and Gonzo compliment eachother well and I think both need eachother to be successfull. Ted opens up the underneath stuff. Even though Gonzo has wheels he's never been used as a deep threat and Florida knew that so they just ate up everything underneath. Bottom line is we never adjusted the gameplan when Ginn went out, IMO. Oh well, you live and you learn.

tibor's amateur thoughts being at the game:

1. the feeling after Ginn's TD was amazing. Never in my wildest dreams would I realize we were going to get outscored 41-7.

2. I never got the sense after that the team was ready to play. And that included the coaches. After it was 14-7, I said, "JT will adjust. He always does" He never did. Florida didn't run any different plays after that. Their same plays kept on working.

3. OSU has always this year used the pass to set up the run. That's fine but things get really ugly quick if the pass isn't working. you get a lot of 3 and 10 and outs and that deflates the D and the crowd.

4. It's hard to believe that every pass TS threw was to the sidelines. WTF? Why didn't we go down the middle of the field? What about the TE? What abaout a screen? Baffling.

5. The personal foul indicated more than anything that we were going to be more Miami (FL) instead of OSU on this night

6. More than anything this exposed how horrible the Big 10 has been all year. OSU and scUM embarrassed the same year? How often does that happen? I never thought our defensive secondary was all that great this year. It was just that they played week in and week out against horrible teams. They were getting picked apart against NW, but it didn't matter because NW comitted so many turnovers (and they're NW). Against real offenses they were exposed for 80 points in 2 games.

7. In the end it wasn't going to matter probably. Florida played a perfect game. Their worst player (FG kicker) kicked 2 40+ field goals. It doesn't get more clutch than that. In the end we didn't beat ourselves. They just beat us.

They have a right to bitch and everyone else has a right to rip them if they choose to spew nonsense. Freedom of speech works both ways.

Criticizing another poster is low class? I don't think so. No, ripping a recruit for going to another school is low-class.

You're post is low class. Stop acting stupid. My post regarding the recruit was in defense of his actions towards our university. Your constitution towards Ohio State is weak

Don't you guys think we are taking this name calling to an all time low here guys. It was a game and it hurts that we lost, but if the team and the coaching staff can handle the loss with class i think we can as well.

i agree, which is why i can't stand a poster who states that, for example, our special teams coaches need to be fired, with another poster agreeing with the "fan's" post.
