8.8 Earthquake hits Chile, tsunami warning for Hawaii Saturday afternoon

No one. Chile isn't a corrupt Caribbean hellhole inhabited largely by people of African descent. The PC value isn't there. :wink2:
Thats fairly classless considering hundreds of thousands died in the Haitian quake.
Jake;1666205; said:
My comment had nothing to do with the hundreds of thousands that died, but rather, the people who exploit them.

People raising money to help the victims of a quake that killed and orphaned hundreds of thousands of Hatians is just a "PC" effort by people who "exploit" the victims???

Sean Penn and his red cup say hi....

I think what Jake is trying to say is some scumbags (read celebrities) are going to use desperate situations like Haiti and Chile to get themselves some pub time. Most of these people couldn't give a shit less, but since it's a chance to get in the news and look like they are doing something, they will. Much like all those scumbags who ripped off the Katrina donations.....

It's sad, but those people in Haiti were used as will the people of Chile if they are desperate enough.

"Singalongs won't save the world"
The Week Magazine - News reviews and opinion, arts, entertainment & political cartoons

Benefit concerts may make celebrities feel all warm and fuzzy, said Jonathan Last, but they don?t do much for the world?s starving and destitute. Seventy-five pop stars, rappers, and actors gathered earlier this month for a 25th anniversary rendering of ?We Are the World? to benefit Haitian earthquake victims, and if experience is any indicator, the net result will be mostly hot air and ?self-congratulation.?

The original ?pop-benefit extravaganza,? George Harrison?s 1971 Concert for Bangladesh, raised about $8.8 million. The money was tied up in accounting squabbles for a decade. When it reached Bangladesh, ?one of the poorest places on earth,? it made little difference; the country has thus far received $30 billion in foreign aid, to little effect. The most famous rock benefit, Live Aid, raised up to $110 million for famine-stricken Africa. That sounds impressive?until you consider that foreigners have given $1 trillion in aid to Africa over the past 60 years, much of which was siphoned off by dictators and corrupt officials.

Africa?s continued misery?like Haiti?s?is not caused by a mere lack of food but by political and social chaos. The real beneficiaries of these singalongs are the consciences of millionaire celebrities.

No, Jake was trying to say he's a racist who kills puppies and kittens and won't have a beer with Harvard professors. Don't you go protecting him. :pissed: He was on the phone to his broker when the earthquake hit buying sugar and voodoo futures.

That's because he's an idiot. Everyone knows voodoo futures peaked with Major Leauge.

Urban Meyer is among Hawaii evacuees | Jacksonville.com

Being on vacation can be stressful, too

University of Florida football coach Urban Meyer and wife Shelley were
evacuated from their Hawaii hotel on Saturday morning because of an
oncoming tsunami, the Gainesville Sun reported on its Web site.

The tsunami was spawned by a magnitude 8.8 earthquake in Chile
that sent waves barreling north across the Pacific. But it delivered
only a minor blow to Hawaii, with no major injuries reported.

"Strange ending to great trip," - Shelley Meyer told The Sun in a
text message. Meyer is on a leave of absence from UF after
suffering chest pains during the 2009 season. He's expected
to return next month for spring football.

 Poor guy can't buy a break it seems. I hope he offered some 2011 Somoan prospects while he was in the area.
