(6) THE Ohio State vs. (11) Dayton, Thurs 3/20, 12:15p ET, CBS

I learned last Sunday that I'd gotten spoiled after 5 straight trips to the B1G title game. It was weird not seeing us in it. I think the same has happened with the NCAAs. During the 80s & 90s, and part of the 2000s, I was used to watching the tourney without OSU really being a player (or even in it, some years). If we're out this weekend (or tomorrow) that will really put a damper on it.

Dayton will play like it's the Super Bowl. This isn't the time for a lackluster performance, or a game where we only play well for 12-15 minutes. Time to step it up.

I only saw Dayton play once this year--the Maui game against Baylor that they should've won. Despite losing to St. Joe's three times, they actually don't have a horrible record against tournament teams this year--looks like they're 4-6.

"This is what I left Ohio State for": Dayton's Jordan Sibert embraces spotlight while trying to take down former team

According to this article the reason why his minutes were reduced when he was here was because he did not play very well defensively.
It will be very interested to see how his defensive intensity is today. Looks like he and Smith Jr. will be matched up when we are not playing both Craft and Scott.

"He is successful at Dayton, but that doesn't mean he would be successful here," Smith said. "You have to be able to play a certain level of defense to play on this team. And as well as he does offensively, I don't know if he has that capability of playing the same caliber of defense that we need.

"We guard a little bit different in practice and games, so if you're struggling on offense your defense better be on top of your game. You better get 10 rebounds, if you can, or at least five steals. I think when he struggled, he wasn't producing the same type of effort on defense and that's what I think got to him a little bit."

Love Lenzelle publicly sticking up for Thad's decision to play the guys who put forth consistent effort at both ends. From his perspective, it sounds like Jordan didn't put the intensity into defense he needs to. Hope Lenzelle's shots start to fall. If not, rebound, play D, and take it to the hole.
