#6 Arizona +3.5 vs #2 tOSU (ov/un 133.5) Thurs 7:45 TBS

Wow - I'm extremely surprised they'd put the big guy on Deshaun. Iso, iso, iso all day long if that is the case. And if not, run the high ball screen with DT and Craft, and let Craft take it to the rack, or kick it to Deshaun for a look with a smaller defender on him.

I think we'd beat Duke this time. We could(should?) have beaten them the first time, and we're leaps and bounds better. Of course, I also was sure we'd beat Kansas the second time last year.

I certainly don't want to face Louisville, and I'd rather not face Sparty again.

I'd tend to agree with this sentiment. Duke is not scary at all. Craft/Smith Jr. have shown they can completely shut down Curry two years in a row. Quin Cook had the 2nd half of his life last time around against the Buckeyes, and Ryan Kelly was just beginning to show himself as Duke's most important player.

2nd choice would be Sparty, because Craft is in Appling's head and the Buckeyes have proven to be the overall better team. Louisville? They are the one team left I'd rather OSU not play. They rebound, they attack the rim, and they cause havoc defensively.

The obvious... need to improve our defensive rebounding
OSU’s “small lineup” is problematic for opponents to defend, though it was likewise for the Buckeyes on the boards. Iona had 14 offensive rebounds and Iowa State 12, and Arizona averages 11.3 offensive rebounds per game. Ohio State will have to gang-rebound much better than it did against Iowa State. The Buckeyes had 34 fouls called against them in three games in the Big Ten tournament; they were whistled for 37 in two games in Dayton. With new officials comes new interpretations of how much contact defenders can dish out.

who would you guys rather face in the FF

Louisville, Duke again or Sparty for a 4th time?

I vote Sparty because OSU best is better than Sparty's best

If OSU plays their best against Louisville or Duke, chance they may not win still

Duke or Sparty. Louisville would be a tough draw. Duke we've played them close at their place when we didn't have an offense. Sparty because they still haven't had their Sparty No! Moment.

while the rebounding does need to improve, I don't think the story really touches on the main cause of the offensive rebounds. Some of those misses from long range by Iona/ISU were coming off of the rim/backboard like rockets and going 20+ feet away from the rim.

Don't forget its easier to get those offensive rebounds when you're climbing over the back of the defending player.

I feel pretty good about this game. I was terrified about the Iowa State game but I think we match up pretty well with Arizona. And I think after that scare they will be both more determined and more relaxed on the court.

Also, today is already a good day b/c my mini Silver Bullet helmet came in the mail :banger:

I was looking around for some free information on Arizona and I found this in addition to some other stuff. It seems like Lyons is the heart and soul of this team and if Craft can shut him down we stand a very good chance of winning this game. I would expect to see Solomon Hill defending Thomas which will prove to be very interesting. It seems like they have a lot more size than we do so rebounding really will be a key come Thursday.

After helping No. 18-ranked Arizona win 24 games this season, four Wildcats were honored Monday by the Pac-12 Conference coaches.

Seniors Solomon Hill and Mark Lyons were among the 10 first-team all-conference selections, while guard Nick Johnson and center Kaleb Tarczewski were tabbed honorable mention selections on the all-defensive and all-freshman teams, respectively.

"I'm really happy for them," UA head coach Sean Miller said. "We always talk about with team success comes individual accolades."

Arizona seniors Mark Lyons (2) and Solomon Hill (44) were named to the Pac-12 Conference first team Monday afternoon.
Lyons led Arizona in scoring at 14.9 points per game, followed by Hill's 13.6 average. Hill's 5.2 rebounds were good for second on the team while Lyons' team-best 85 percent shooting from the free-throw line helped UA pull out a number of close games this season.

"It's a great honor. My first time in this conference and to be honored as a first-team All-Pac-12 player is definitely great, feels great," said Lyons, who spent the previous four years in the Atlantic 10 at Xavier.

It was Hill's second consecutive first-team selection.

"It just shows my hard work is noticed," said Hill, who shot 38.4 percent from the 3-point line after an offseason in which he put significant time into improving his jump shot. "

Johnson, who collected 60 steals this season, continually drew the toughest assignment on the opposing team's top offensive performer.

Both Miller and Hill said an argument could be made that Johnson should have been included with the five honorees on the all-defensive team. But a decline in his personal numbers and the team's overall defense for a significant portion of the season did not help his cause.

"I'm sure one of the things that hurt him is just the last three weeks of our team's overall defense sliding, and you get grouped into that," Miller said.

It's said that basketball is a game of match-ups. Myron Medcalf writes for ESPN.com about "Five must-see match-ups in the Sweet 16."

One features the Buckeyes' Aaron Craft, considered by some as the best defensive guard in the nation, and Arizona guard Mark Lyons, who will likely be covered by Craft.
Myron Medcalf writes:

Lyons has carried the Wildcats to the Sweet 16. The West Region did Arizona a few favors to ease its path. Harvard's dismissal of New Mexico certainly helped. But Lyons has been phenomenal. He scored 50 points, shot 20-for-32 from the field and connected on six of his 13 3-point attempts in two wins against Belmont and Harvard. When Sean Miller lured Lyons to Tucson, he needed a leader. He needed a veteran who could help him mold his talented young recruiting class. And Lyons has played that role for the program. Plus, he's elevated his game at a pivotal time.

But Craft is a dream-killer. He proved as much with his poise in the final minutes of Ohio State's win against Iowa State last weekend. Craft wasn't perfect. But with the game on the line, he didn't panic. That game winner exemplified the trust his teammates have in him, too. Point guards don't like him, though. He's recorded eight steals in two NCAA tournament games. Cyclones point guard Korie Lucious committed five turnovers against his pressure. Craft is coming after Lyons this week.

"Greg Byrne says the Wildcats will wear red jerseys on Thursday. The Wildcats are 4-2 in red so far this season, with four nonconference wins (Texas Tech, Clemson, ETSU and Miami) and losses at Oregon and to UCLA in the Pac-12 Tournament."

Anyone know the Buckeyes record wearing white?
