5 players suspended for 5 games in 2011 regular season (Appeal has been denied)

Thank you for your opinion. But... alas... I'm going to have to ban you. I'm sure we'll uncover something you've done wrong.

What I do in the RR stays in the RR. And it's legal in Illinois - I think.

If they are suspended for the bowl game so be it...its not the end of the world...another learning experience for the players ,fans.boosters, etc...and another chance to point out the hypocrisy of the NCAA and major college sports. Bowl games are basically exhibitions anyway..

Personally, I prefer to wait until we find out who did what, and then discuss what the appropriate punishment is, and whether tOSU's actions are appropriate.

We should hear something that's definitive in the next hour. I'm willing to keep the posse in the corral until then.

GPA?

100% Agree

I agree 100% with Erik Kuselias in that video about the irony of bowl gifts and the tattoo bs.

Some of the bowl gifts are crazy that kids get now. I'm pretty certain that a lot of tattoos these kids get, that they don't pay for them. If a kid goes home and sees his old stomping ground, I'm sure they could easily get something like this done for free and just say, "yeah I paid for it." NCAA makes it difficult to even want to follow college sports sometimes.

I agree with your entire post except for the last sentence. Certainly, if the events turn out to be true as speculated, decisive disciplinary measures need to be taken. However, kicking the kids off the team is quite the overreaction. Suppose player x got a $150 tattoo in exchange for an autographed jersey (purely conjecture and hypothetical). Did the kid make a horrible decision....yes, does he deserve to have his life turned upside down and possibly ruined..NO. I am not saying that the players should be allowed to play in the bowl game, but a one year suspension and mandatory restitution would be sufficient.

1-tats dont cost $150.
2-1 year suspension for many of those would equate to the boot

That's cash, which puts the infraction into an entirely different category.

really? actually no, youre wrong. the gift is treated "as if" it is cash. therefore a $5 pack of cigarettes (for example using something a-trivial and b-low value that is obviously not involved) would be treated as if the person then sold the cigs for cash. therefore any gift or good is equal to the cash value. (this applies with multiple exchanges such as the cigs for five packs of gum then to cash.)

Hopefully Fine Line Ink isn't a NFLPA-certified agent. :sad2:

My 2 cents:
  • Damn, a lot of Ohio State players have tats.
  • If it is true, suspensions are warranted.
  • Herbie naming names means he should be ex-communicated from Buckeyedom. Don't repeat what blogs publish.
  • We could still win the Sugar Bowl if this all goes down.

True, and so be it for those that 1 year suspension = boot applies. Tattoos can vary greatly in price. We don't know anything about the tattoos received. Could have just been discounts.

what worries me is this stuff all came to light as the Buckeyes were taking a break for Christmas. Maybe it's a fluke of timing, but maybe it's easier to keep any possible suspended players away from the program entirely if they are at home too.

Just doing my best Taos impersonation....I don't think there will be any suspensions as yet given the information known. Now Gene Smith and those closely associated with the program know more (obviously), but unless Poe was outright lying to us about things going on just two days ago (and not even a full two days ago), then this is more of a presser to say "yes we're looking at it and giving it due diligence, but there's nothing to report as yet" type of presser....
this is what I'm expecting also.

although.......
