5 players suspended for 5 games in 2011 regular season (Appeal has been denied)

[sarcasm]I disagree completely, in fact, since it is clearly against the rules, and also illegal, and the kids should all be aware of these publicized rules, we should kick off any kid who is guilty of underage drinking, jaywalking, speeding, running a red light, passing across a yellow line, or running a stop sign (this includes the rolling stop) Now if they are caught possssing illegal substances, or drive drunk, they should be kicked off the team and shot [/sarcasm]

ill say it again, if true to the extent as rumored- anything short of kicking the kids off the team is nothing short of cowardly scumbag way out...

Personally, I prefer to wait until we find out who did what, and then discuss what the appropriate punishment is, and whether tOSU's actions are appropriate.

We should hear something that's definitive in the next hour. I'm willing to keep the posse in the corral until then.

that seems a tad culturally insensitive to me...

but aj green got 4 games for $1,000 bucks for his unsigned crap bowl jersey.

its not the first go around this month for one of the persons involved with the compliance department, and a history of issues/situations/events makes a laundry list of occurrences...

Thank you for your opinion. But... alas... I'm going to have to ban you. I'm sure we'll uncover something you've done wrong.

7) the money everyone else makes

no fault lies with say the maroons who broke a clear and obvious ncaa rule knowing that such actions would be a clear violation of their amateur status (on multiple levels) and in such a manner that has been both widely publicized, and extensively explained to them by the compliance team...

I agree with your entire post except for the last sentence. Certainly, if the events turn out to be true as speculated, decisive disciplinary measures need to be taken. However, kicking the kids off the team is quite the overreaction. Suppose player x got a $150 tattoo in exchange for an autographed jersey (purely conjecture and hypothetical). Did the kid make a horrible decision....yes, does he deserve to have his life turned upside down and possibly ruined..NO. I am not saying that the players should be allowed to play in the bowl game, but a one year suspension and mandatory restitution would be sufficient.

would you feel the same way if this was happening at an SEC school?
Absolutely. Things like theft and money grabs are entirely different from trading signatures for tats, or entry into a club, or blowjobs from sorority chicks. There's no end to the variety of ways athletes routinely get "benefits unavailable to the student body at large," and singling this one out is absurd whether it's happening at tOSU, Alabama, or Mount Union.

what worries me is this stuff all came to light as the Buckeyes were taking a break for Christmas. Maybe it's a fluke of timing, but maybe it's easier to keep any possible suspended players away from the program entirely if they are at home too.

Just doing my best Taos impersonation....I don't think there will be any suspensions as yet given the information known. Now Gene Smith and those closely associated with the program know more (obviously), but unless Poe was outright lying to us about things going on just two days ago (and not even a full two days ago), then this is more of a presser to say "yes we're looking at it and giving it due diligence, but there's nothing to report as yet" type of presser....

[sarcasm]Again, I disagree, I think we should hang them, but not with a new rope, just kicking them off the team, does not show enough seriousness to the charges.[/sarcasm]

NCAA is stupid

Just wanted to come over to your board to see what you guys were hearing about the entire situation. Personally I think the producers were wanting Kirk to talk about the tattoo situation being a boring ass game they were covering. In his defense he did mention that they were rumors, and stressed rumors.

I hope your players do get cleared so we can have a great game. Unfortunately after seeing what happened to AJ Green, I think Tressel will have no choice but to pull the trigger himself to avoid any major findings by the NC-a-holes. I think it's stupid that Cam Newton's dad can gets 180k and be cleared by the NCAA while your kids get pissed on. Good luck today guys.
