5) Terrelle Pryor, Dan Herron, DeVier Posey, Chris Fields, Nate Oliver, Travis Howard, Mike Adams, Jonathan Newsome, Michael Brewster and Jordan Hall are the names mentioned so far.
5a) Terrelle Pryor denies his involvement - http://twitter.com/#!/TPeezy2/status/17780798866329600
5b) Michael Brewster denies his involvement - http://twitter.com/#!/Brewster50/status/17813845468774400
So lets analyze this. If we were to lose half these guys for the Sugar Bowl, who do we need to be in the clear.

The 4 guys we absolutely need are TP, Brewster, Adams, Howard

Posey and Herron are Awesome , but they won't help us win without TP, Brew, and Adams. Need Travis Howard in the secondary against Mallet's howitzer.

I didn't think OSU had even admitted they were investigating yet. I thought reporters at the Dispatch had sources that said OSU was investigating. Am I wrong?

Considering what the Dispatch and WBNS were reporting last night, I just don't see any problem with ESPN covering it as well.

I guess all I'm saying is that, as of last night, there was a lot of disparaging remarks made about anyone reporting this as if they are horrible for doing the reporting.

This may all amount to a pack of lies by the tat parlor or something else, but considering the authorities involved, I just don't see how the media is to blame for this.

Scepticism lies in fact. Here are the facts so far.
1) IRS was investing Fine Link Ink regarding financial issues
2) FBI raids Fine Link Ink in connection with IRS investigation.
3) Signed OSU memorabilia were found, including current players.
4) Tattoo Parlor shop owner claims they were given to him for free to cover costs of services performed.
5) Terrelle Pryor, Dan Herron, DeVier Posey, Chris Fields, Nate Oliver, Travis Howard, Mike Adams, Jonathan Newsome, Michael Brewster and Jordan Hall are the names mentioned so far.
5a) Terrelle Pryor denies his involvement - http://twitter.com/#!/TPeezy2/status/17780798866329600
5b) Michael Brewster denies his involvement - http://twitter.com/#!/Brewster50/status/17813845468774400
6) If two of the players are incorrectly accused, then it stands to reason that this story is more BS then fact.

Do you really think that a high school athlete can take 3 years off from football before declaring for the draft and actually get drafted because he's still physically fit, but with only high school football experience?
The problem with this is #5, and therefore #6. The names that have been mentioned seem to be somebody just looking at pictures and deciding who has tattoos. I don't think these are the people who have been named by the parlor.

When idiot Herbstreit goes on ESPN and runs with those names, he makes it seem like they are the ones who have been named by the parlor. That's why he gets shit from some people......because he does this shit all the time.

it seems to me like the local beat writers dug around, found nothing, and this rumor was "nothing to see here"... then Herbstreet talks about it on national television, and the things blows up, am I mistaken?

is there even the remotest possibility that he has any reliable sources left in Columbus? if he does I would hope he just lost them all

what are the chances that his "source" on this is fucking Bucknuts?

it wouldn't surprise me in the least

From the other facts, I assume (and i mean assume), that these are the signatures on the items that they found. The Parlor owner then states "Yeah they gave me those items in exchange for services rendered." I don't believe he named anyone, the items did that themselves.

Actually, with the exception of 5a and 5b, everything you listed is speculation, not fact. Herby reported the IRS raided a tattoo parlor, but there are no reports of any statements by the owner. Even the name of the tattoo parlor is speculation by Brooks of SportsbyBrooks. He states that is a tattoo parlor where some OSU players have been getting tattoos, but there is no confirmation that this particular tattoo place was the one under IRS investigation.

Yes. It was a story regardless of who found it and who ran with it. I heard rumors about "something" from other sites on Monday. Then Wednesday night it leaks out. If it was much ado about nothing, I doubt it would have come out the way it did. Something is obviously going on. Whether that something is OSU players getting illegal benefits or a tattoo parlor lying about their finances....who knows.

If the local beat writers didn't find anything before Herbie opened his mouth on TV, they didn't do a good enough job looking.

I believe the only source of any names has been Sports by Brooks......and my assumption based on the way that article was written is that he went through a photo gallery looking for players with tattoos. The one kid (forget the name at the moment) didn't even have a tat....just those greek symbols that Malcolm Jenkins has. That looked enough like a tat in the pictures, so he gets named.

Again, I'm assuming as much as you are. If those names that Herbie announced on TV for the whole world to condemn are actually named by legit sources, then I'll have to take back what I've said about him.

Smith to discuss violations
By TIM MAY

Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith has scheduled a noon session with the media to discuss possible NCAA rules violations.
The school's recent investigation into whether some members of the football team exchanged signed memorabilia for tattoos is likely to be the theme. Insiders have said for a couple of days several players might face suspension from the Sugar Bowl against Arkansas on Jan.4 and possible further sanctions for their roles in the affair.

Or maybe Herbie, the "journalist" opened his mouth prior to getting any legit info, sort of like the Les Miles to scUM fiasco, which reminds me GBYBM YMSOB

I see where Grad is coming from, this is not something that is going to go away fast, unfortunately it will take a while for the feds and the tOSU/NCAA group to sort this out. We get to be the lead story on eSpin for a while I guess, while unbiased, straightforward, non-sensationalizing "journalists" investigate our rectum hoping [censored] falls out.

Can TP or another player sue ESPN and Kirk Herstreit for him running his mouth. Challenge him to give up his sources which provided players names involved. Things like this can cost you in the draft because of character issues and it can also be defamation of character because it will hurt your image/reputation with no credibility.

Lawyers please break it down. I think it would be funny if Herbstreit got slapped with a civil lawsuit for a million or 2.
