49ers at Browns(-10.5)

As if Quinn would have done any better in 50 MPH winds. As if Quinn would be doing any better right now. The throws sucked that's a given but the Browns throwing the ball 50 damn times did more to cost them that game.

Or the Browns going for it on the 4th and 1 at the 19

or the muffed FG attempt

Or the fact they can't seem to stop the run even when everybody and their brother knows it's coming....

Mike, if you are turning the ball over at the rate of 20 INT's's per year then non of it matters. You simply are not going to win year in and year out turning the ball over that much.
Ask a coach what is the one thing every team must avoid in a game......Turnovers.
Turnovers lead to the Bucks 2003 NC game win.

There is no way of telling if Quinn would be better if you don't play him.
From what I've seen of him his accuracy is outstanding. Both in College and in preseason. I don't care who you are playing against. If he throws a perfect pass then the best corner in the league is going to get beat often.

If you want mediocrity then stay with DA. That's what you'll get with him. He'll look like a pro bowler one week and a complete stuff the next.

No shit you think?

However if you give the guy a chance to actually learn the position, given what we've seen, it MIGHT be worth it.....

that's laughable. Quinn isn't and shouldn't even be on the radar right now......

:slappy:

If you want 4 wins a season, keep switching out QBs. Meanwhile I'll take DA and 10-6 all the damn time.

You do realize they won 10 games this year while having one of the worst defenses in franchise history RIGHT?

You do realize DA threw for a franchise record in TDs RIGHT??

Maybe DA isn't the answer, but sure as hell he's the guy with the best shot to BE that answer right now and he definitely deserves another year to prove or disprove it.

Great season for the Browns at 10-6.

No one could have scripted the season any better than to have DA provide stability at the QB position so that Quinn wasn't rushed into action too soon. The fact that DA was more than servicable gave the Browns a win-win this year.

As far as the DA v BQ debate. Anyone who believes that BQ is getting traded this off season is either higher than a kite or allowing anti-ND bias to affect their NFL/Browns view of things. BQ is going nowhere!

The Browns are in the position of having 2 QB's, a position that how many other NFL teams find themselves in?? Now, how many NFL teams would love to have just one QB?!?

The Browns will offer DA the contract and if another team really wants him, and give up their 1st and 3rd round picks, then the Browns will have a decision to make. Personally, I would be shocked if another team was willing to forego their 1st and 3rd pick for DA, but if the Miami Dolphins were that team, then the Browns would have a seriously difficult decision to make.

I too am a big Colts fan this evening, but if they don't win, oh well. I will take 10-6 and call it a step in the right direction for the franchise.

Mike, If you are around in a couple of years, I'll remind you of this exchange.

My bet is Quinn will be a successful starting Qb and DA is backing up somewhere.

I loved what Phil Simms just said. He told T Smith that he'll learn to love that 1 yard pass that allows your players to do their thing. The very thing that DA cannot do. Instead he'll force balls downfield into coverages that will cost him an NFL caeer.

It seemed like the Browns defense was much more aggressive today when it came to rushing the passer. It seemed like we were rushing more than 3-4 guys at a time. I realize that we were playing against an inferior QB and a one dimensional team but if you give the guy less time to throw sometimes it will pay off. I would rather have seen the Browns go down with the defense "blazing" in a couple games this season rather than just having a passive defense.

I would have liked to see BQ get some reps in the second half but I think that would have been detrimental if Indy would happen to win tonight plus it probably would have dropped DA's trade value is the Browns are even thinking about that possibility.

Lewis looked like a man possessed today. I hope they give him an incentive laden contract for the next two years.

Go Colts!

The most intelligent post on this thread Prof. DA was more than servicable. He did the kind of job the Browns needed to allow Quinn to learn from the sidelines.
But there is no doubt the BQ is the future. He has all the tools to be a much better pro than DA could ever hope of being.
