Oden and Buckeyes pound Cincinnati Bearcats, 72-50
By Michael Marot
The Associated Press
INDIANAPOLIS -- Greg Oden's hometown fans got one more glimpse of how dominant he can be.
It was every bit as good as they remembered from his high school days.
The freshman center had 14 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks in 27 minutes and nearly produced a double-double in the first half as No. 4 Ohio State routed Cincinnati 72-50 on Saturday. It was the most lopsided victory margin in Wooden Tradition history. The previous record was Cincinnati's 79-59 win over Purdue in 2004.

BLAME GAME: UC guard Deonta Vaughn, who missed nine of his 11 shots, blamed the Bearcats' 26 percent shooting on the use of balls he said were smaller than what they are used to.
"Every shot was a good shot," Vaughn said. "Everybody had open looks. But we were complaining a little bit about the balls."

what a bunch of whiners and even after that the majority of them shoot down their own team. plus they have their never ending rants over OSU current recruiting violations.![]()

the first half was very good.
These are not complaints but things I noticed.
Until we got up by 30 +. Oden would have gotten the 20 points I forecast if he had been in a closer game and been played more. I think part of the outcome was that Cinci was tired. They missed a lot of open shots in the first half.
In the 2nd half we didnt do so good. The "team " effort got a little shaky as players started taking some quick shots. In turn the D suffered and Cinci got some trans baskets.
We only scored 30 in the 2nd half, partially because Matta played more people, mostly because of poor shot selection.
All in all a good game for us. I saw positive things in team play and that is improvement.

did anyone who went to the game notice the number of cincy fans who were doing the gator champ? that was classy. a lot of purdue fans were cheering for the bearcats, too. during the butler-purdue games, ohio state fans were cheering for, if either team, purdue.
i got a laugh when i saw that the loudest cheer from the cincy fans occurred when one of their male cheerleaders held up a female cheerleader longer than one of our cheerleaders did. when that's all you have to be proud of, i guess that's what you cheer for.

Who here is urinating on your program? Buckguy made some comments on the fans in the stands. Other than that, I see a lot of people responding to the sour grapes from Vaughn and cinci message boards.
If the loudest cheer was for a cheerleader holding contest, that's sad but humorous. If that happened at the Schott w/ OSU fans, it would be sad/funny, and also a very plausible event given the typical crowd.
