Come on Bayside!!!! It's the only thing i can beat you guys in!
Oh please... unless I magically had another recruit sign this week then I'm still stuck with a single 4 star recruit. This after going through the last regular season only signing 2 recruits.

I've had my one recruit signed since like week 2. Funny thing, he's a FS and I've currently got like 5 FSs on my roster (still listed in the FS portion of my depth/position charts). I think I've got a couple of more FSs interested in me that I'm recruiting. It looks as though I'm destined to being Free Safety U!

Still though, I'd like to lock up a few more recruits during the regular season. If I didn't get any guys this past week, then I'll have trouble doing that. My next 2 games are on the road against FSU (A+ OVR) and #2 GT. I'll likely be looking to save my bacon in the 5 week offseason again.

Safeties can make excellent LBs though...
Yeah, I've already bumped one to LB (first year, should be low 80s as a rsSoph next year) and have a couple more that I need to move, possibly putting at least one of them at CB.

Maybe I'll have to switch to a 3-4 :)

That's really not what I'm whining about though (focus will ya ). I'm trying to get more players locked up during the season so that my offseason won't have so much riding on it.

do you bring in your recruits for rivalry games? Spread them out throughout the year?
I brought a bunch in for my rivalry game and I won big. All of the attendees gave their visits an A-. Not one has signed since then.

I just had a bunch more attend my last home game and I haven't see the results yet (and judging from your previous post I wasn't able to bring in at least 3 5* players). I wanted to get most of my recruits in before my next 2 games when my ranking will likely dip with 2 likely road losses forthcoming. My schedule of home games made it so I felt I needed to front load most of my games.

I've found it's more effective to recruit earlier in the year, before shocking thefts can occur. You run the risk of having a silent lean for 5-10 weeks and losing out, however. I've lost a handful of recruits already that had A/A+ trips and verballed elsewhere a few weeks later.

It would also help Springfield's cause if they could beat the deep yet mediocre ACC :p

The key to NCAA 2010 is RBs who can catch sleeper OL & securing the rare speed WR. Good dual threat QBs are quite rare. Even my promising young speed QBs from year 1 haven't developed that well. I'll probably end up starting Godfrey for his accuracy, even though his foot speed isn't that great.

A TON of athletes fly under the radar in this league as well. Miami got away with highway robbery in year 1 with some of the kids they landed without contest (or the competition didn't offer till week 10), but there are often some great measurables sitting there with 1 or less offers.

FS Jones 80 ovr 93 spd & 6'5" CB Washington 84 ovr A mcv were both unoffered for a long time.

I think weeks 5 & 8 were my bgi recruit visits. Maybe I'll have to try some earlier games next season. I also don't like to bring in recruits when playing other user teams, as I worry they might see me lose a 17 point lead in the 4th quarter... just saying.

Man, it's such BS. FSU is only 4-3 right now but they have an advantage against me in nearly every position. They have team speed to spare and are like an A/A+ OVR. So I'll likely lose to them and then I'll look worse than I should (to recruits) since I had a better record going into the game.

It doesn't help that the CPU seems to let every team (great or not) manage to score on me whenever I get a 10+ point lead on a team. And then, if I'm close to a better team (think FSU here) in the second half, that's when my QB usually throws consecutive INTs for TDs, or my star RB fumbles the ball every carry until they are up by 2-3 TDs. It really gets ridiculous.

Funny thing, when I save the dynasty offline and play part of game to work on my gameplan, the BS doesn't show up. I usually get a good clean game that I can win. I guess the the offline dynasty doesn't have to account for the CPU AI bribery.

I think I've done OK with OL recruiting so far (got a couple upper 70's to low 80s), but I don't think I've picked up a player with 91+ SPD yet. Got a couple of WRs with 90, and I think CBs Burns and Smithers are around 90 as well.

I picked up on that a bit the end of season 2. It seems though, as soon as I show interest in them and/or offer them, then the CPU does too.

Btw, I thought I got a steal picking up the #2 CB in the offseason last year, and he was only a 79 OVR with 85 SPD. I'm desperately hoping his SPD improves this coming offseason. He's not strong enough to move to LB or S.

I usually go week 4-7. Anything before that leaves too many 75-80% interest bars. Anything after that means they likely verbal before I get them on campus with the co-eds.

90 spd WRs are quality pickups as well. You just don't want to be hauling in the 85/87 speed guys very often, unless they have great hands and special catch abilities. You can always target a speed CB with good hands as well.

It's tough to get the other team off the field. You have to be able to get pressure on the quarterback, one way or another.

Switching up defenses is key as well, or at least it seems to be. If I run the same sets, they start carving me up. I tend to pick up more turnovers if I switch up my defenses.

Yup, there are some guys that just aren't worth keeping. I really hope they implement a cut/transfer system next year, so that those players can come back to haunt you. If I cut my 4th dual-threat QB, he might want to transfer to Hoover to exact vengeance upon me.

Yeah, 2 of my 3 90 SPD WRs came in at 80 OVR. They are both productive for me and I can't complain about them at all. The third has a low CTH rating and he's basically around in case I get desperate.

My 87 SPD WR I picked up is 6'6" and 230+ pounds. He's adequate. Btw, I don't recall seeing SPD ratings improve for any of my recruited WRs or CBs. I'm beginning to think I might need to be able to recruit faster players to get the others to improve in those categories.

That being said, even when I manually put pressure on the CPU QB with my stud DE he still usually throws perfect passes to his receivers. I'm sure I need to mix up my coverages more though too.

I'm with ya here, otherwise it allows you to recruit extra players just to keep other teams from using them.

I think with this whole "speed" thing people are thinking too much of NCAA 09. I think the retooled speed is fine. How many times do we really see 40+ yard plays by speedsters on real saturday afternoons anyways?

It will be better in about 2-3 seasons when all we have are the new recruits, and the real players have graduated

Oh, it's certainly improved. And if they could get it on par with this year's version of Madden, then it wouldn't be much of an issue at all. But as it is, as long as there are players available with 93+ SPD, I'd like to have a few of them on my team as well, especially at DB.

True. I'm just growing wearing of the game engine as a whole. It really does nothing to advance ingenuity or much of a thought process.

The dynasty would be SO much funner for me if it allowed for formation subs. That was a real disappointment.

Yup, sub in your coverage LB. Sub in your best pass rushing LB when you want to bring the heat.

Use your speed WR on a screen pass, or best blocking WR on 1st down.

Or even the simple joys like letting your true freshman on kick off coverage and punt coverage, having different running backs in on power sets/shotgun sets, using 3 DT's in the 3-4 defense...I used to play 20 season dynastys back in the days of NCAA 05,06,07 (especially), and 08 (xbox version). I could go on and on but I digress.

Come X-mas break I'm gonna give up and go get COD4. Do you still have it JWins?
