And I know that this isn't basketball, but if you notice every time a student tries to come up with something creative for the crowd at football games, its often met with limited support if any.
we should turn our backs on our opponents when they enter the schott. that would really get the crowd going.

Edit: I'm assuming Buckguy is being sarcastic.

 This one time in high school we passed out news papers and everybody opened them up when the other team came out and that was really cool... sarcasm font off...

That's why there is a student section seperated from everybody else. So they can do their antics and everyone else can enjoy the game in their own way. Do you think everyone at Duke games does all the silly shit that goes on with their student section? I've been to several tOSU games over the years including games at both St. John's and the Schott. Most of those games were with less than stellar opponents. Crowd noise was never an issue during a great, intense game. I also appreciate the fact our fans aren't as obnoxious at the Dukies. To each his own.

No offense, but "a student coming up with something creative" isn't anything we need for football. OSU has 100+ years of tradition to rely upon. OU could use "something creative". Cincy? "Something creative".

Now, for basketball, we don't need "something creative". We just need fans who know the game and can make noise. IMO, the best basketball environment in the country is right down I-75 in Lexington. What do they do? Any weird, goofy, Dook stuff? No. They show up in force, sell out every game, are covered in blue and white, and know when to make noise. They are part of the game. They pick their team up, sense momentum changes, force timeouts, influence refs, all while behaving in a classy way. As an opposing fan going to a game there, they'll ask if y'all are havin' a good time, then show you what a big time basketball crowd is all about.

It's also not students. It's alumni, families, kids, teenagers -- fans of every age and stripe. They ALL know what they're doing. It's impressive.

I don't want the Schott to be Cameron. I want it to be Rupp. When the opposing point guard travels, yell it out. When the team needs to make a run, get on your feet. When Oden dunks, lift the roof off of the place. Get in the game, show respect to opponents and leave the newspaper gimmicks to high school kids.

im a tad late and see some good stuff on here heres a few quick thoughts from me.

people seem to think the team was flat. i dont agree. it looks like they got their asses run off sunday and monday to me. they didnt have legs. i dont know mattas style that well, havent talked to any of the players, but id be willing to bet he ran the boys hard those two days, and hed do so early in this week to be able to give them a couple of light days and and one good practice late in the week.

butler. ive been saying what you guys seems to say all season. but it comes down to this, at the big points in the game he is still in the game. that tells me something.

lewis. i said his teammates froze him a few games ago. seems to have gotten the point a little, but still see that same ball hogging attitude at times. this team is too talented for that stuff.

oden. i was not so impressed with him. granted he didnt play bad, but didnt play grea either.

conley. still seeing the same things. and in addition i have a new picking point about him dribbling the ball too much. to many times hes dribbling when he shouldnt be. and seems to be taking the extra dribble.

cook. kids a player. enjoy every moment of him. but some of you seem to think hed be dropping 30some a night, that just doesnt happen in a 48 minute game. im sorry folks but thats awful optimistic, take of the scralet glasses.

lighty. honestly nice dunk, but the more i key in on him the less i am impressed with his defense.

rebounding rebounding rebounding. when the tide turned in rebounding, the game changed and the bucks blew the doors open.

all good points. the tide also seemed to turn with the press. i'm sure that matta didn't press because he wanted fresh legs for saturday; otherwise, it would have been foolish not to press a team that is prone to the turnover. once the team pressed, turnovers were forced and easier buckets were had. ohio state is a team that needs to play a faster tempo than what we saw tuesday.

In the last 7 games, he has 35 assists against 7 tunovers. a 5:1 ratio is unreal. Of course, he is only averaging 4.14 points over that span, hasn't made a single two-point basket (out of 6 attempts), and is only 9-29 (31%) from three.

A)He's not shooting - only 5 shots per game. B) When he is shooting, he's not shooting well (9-35= 25.7%).
