#25 Ohio State 85, Belmont 75 (Final)

just got back from the game myself. Tried to take a few pics... upgraded my scalped nosebleed tickets to the 5th row right behind the basket. Moved to a corner endzone seat, and then the opposite end zone seat after halftime :-p

Sullinger was incredible. Big rebounds, steals, finishing inside, etc.
Lewis did an excellent job of attacking the rim.

Sylvester, Mayes and Dials were awol tonight. Dials especially. I realize he was tired, but the guy couldn't make a five footer even when there wasn't anyone on him. I expect him to make a statement in the next game after this performance.

Butler and Foster did a good job managing the game.

The reffing was mystifying. The ref called about 8 invisible fouls on OSU, including that ludicrous three possessions in a row incident. He had eyes like a hawk for these ticky tack fouls, yet was unable to see their big man pick up his pivot foot again, and again, and again.

quiet crowd as usual. Not b/c there isn't anyone there, b/c nobody cheers. When the ref would make an unusually bad call (the average bad calls ran rampant), the place would suddenly turn into a basketball arena full of noise. Most of the time, it would have passed PGA standards when Tiger is putting.

I will try to upload some pictures later, tho my memory card reader currently is not working.

At the end of the night, the team did a good job finishing a rough game.
No pollsters saw this game, and we remain undefeated.

Well I just got back and wow was that frosh of their something. I was hoping we could get him to foul out but that wasn't the case. The team is well coached. Whoever said this was gonna be a tough on was right.

What I liked:
- JJ...need I say more? Huge double double and what a clutch player
- Foster once again plays some great defense and also puts up points
- Sealing the deal at the end. We did this with solid defense guys. Our defense was creating fast breaks and easy points.
- Butler dishing out the assists. Anyone who says he can't play the point is mistaken. He had 6 or 7.
- Last but not least, Thad Matta. What passion I see out of him. I loved it when the officials made a bonehead call and he sat down on the scorer's table

What I didn't like:
- Dials just couldn't get with it. He saw few looks and didn't hit a single field goal
- Letting a lead go. This is at least the third time we've let a substantial lead go down the shitter
- The officiating...it flat out sucked. I could swear Hightower was out there or something
- Why did Mayes see so few minutes? Anybody?

Overall, a W is a W. Let's take it and move on. We are going to have to play tougher if we expect to defeat a quality Iowa State team on the road. Hopefully Matta can get the boys ready for it...I don't doubt it of course :)

YES. What is the deal with the refs we are getting stuck with lately????

The second halves of the St. Joes and Norfolk games, and overall tonight was beyond ridiculous IMO.

Yeah, the officiating has been very sub-par, thus far. Fortunately, we haven't lost any games, yet.

On another note, though... J.J. Sullinger has been a monster on the boards, and has been racking up points, as well. Ron Lewis has been a great addition to the team, and we've looked pretty good so far this season.
