Too soon old, too late smart
Doesn't matter how many teams in playoffs. If it's 100, then #101 & #102 are going to moan and groan about 'unfairness'. The more teams added, the greater the emphasis will be on the single-bye, or double-bye. Less wear and tear on the bodies, but also less actual gametime play. First year, all the byes lost. Don't remember for certain, but three of the four byes lost, only Indiana won, but won it all. Not enough data points to draw significant conclusions, but tinkering with the numbers on an annual basis obviates anything relevant to BE concluded. To me, would seem to point more to super-conferences, as the W-L record would be put to a more psychic test, and would favor the 'old-line' powers, and let schedulers for the conferences push cupcake schedules on the likely candidates. Certainly don't have the crystal ball to see how would work out, nor the eloquent word-smithing to push any point, so just gonna sit back with my adult beverage and watch my Buckeyes play it out each and every year.
