And honestly, Bryce is their best option at QB for that offense. Whitt like Urban love their QBs to run and be used as extra offensive weapons. Tommy Carr is not the type of QB that is good for a Whitt offense, that kid is a spread air it out type of QB. Utah was #2 in team rushing last year, and their QB was the 2nd leading rusher. That fits Underwood more than Carr. But I know disgruntled fans will always want the backup to play and won't pay attention to scheme. You have a terribly inaccurate, immature, high paid QB who has nothing more than elite athleticism, and his backup is a pro style, spread gunslinger. And the offense is setup as a heavy RPO style which is set up for Underwood, but he's just not very good

I’m not sure I’d say he’s an elite athlete, or even that Urban’s offense would suit him. Don’t get me wrong, he’s big and straight-line fast, but doesn’t have the quickness or lateral speed to be a primary runner. JTB wasn’t an elite athlete, but was more compact and had the mindset and vision of an RB when running.

His best runs come on draw plays or roll outs where the defense isn’t expecting him to rush and he can build speed before cutting. Reminds me of a smaller, faster Justin Herbert (as a runner).

That is what separates the great coaches. They adapt and are more proactive than reactive. We saw it with Saban. You could say Julio Jones was even underutilized at Bama, but Bama started bringing in top receiver recruits and opened it up a bit going away from a smashmouth type of offense where he loved to run the ball. They still ran the ball, but they had a guy like Davonta Smith who could terrorize defenses that he may not have done in the past. That is another problem for Michigan. They are living in the 1900s and not adapting to the current game. Thank their shitty leadership.

The problem is that Bryce does not have the intangibles required to be a good running QB in college. He's got good enough athleticism but his vision and ability to make reads are terrible. His actual running ability has always been overblown.

You gotta remember the blind arrogance of his teammates. They probably are pissed that Whittingham dare question the ability of their quarterback who people around the program have ever only hyped up as a player the likes we have never seen before.

He's as athletic(if not more) as Devon Dampier who was the Utah QB last year. I'm just saying that the offense that Beck likes to run is predicated on an athletic running QB, which Underwood is. And they can't make it work. He doesn't read defenses well either, which doesn't help RPO, but I agree, his best runs are from draws and broken plays

That's why it was so baffling seeing Jaime Ffrench leave Tejas for scUM, he's in an offense that only throws to the TE and maybe 1 primary WR. Buchanon is going to be the go to, and Marsh and Ffrench will not be happy :evil:
