2025 tOSU Defense Discussion

I said this before the season and I think even after 1 game I’m ready to state it as fact. This is a better back 7 than we had last year.

I think Matthews is a big upgrade, IGB you can tell really worked on his technique, Downs is everywhere, McClain really played solid, and the two LBs are just a nightmare. The LBs have to be the best set of backers since when? I’d imagine Hawk/Carpenter?

Then the scheme is really interesting for the front four/pressure. Damn, you can really tell the high level football that Patricia has brought.

I’m so damn excited to see how this defense builds on each week. Also, that PSU matchup with Knowles is going to be fun.
Great analysis. Totally agree.

One big question mark entering into the game was Hartford or McClain. McClain was exceptional in his first start and what some feared would be a weakness appears to now be a strength. Ransom brought the lumber and brought a veteran presence, but McClain might be better in coverage.

Caleb was Caleb. And Matthews and IGB played exceptionally well. I was really proud of IGBs improvement with his hands. If he keeps it up he will be a #1 draft pick.

Reese played at an elite level.

Hoping Kenyatta is OK. We will likely see more of Hicks, Atkinson and Logan this week. Which isn't A bad thing considering the competition.

I think the only concern I have anymore is this defensive line vs a team that is committed to running the ball. Specially Washington, Minnesota, Illinois, TCUN.

Haven’t really crushed it vs the run and I don’t think our back ups are going to provide much help this year.

Bright side is we have like 100 defensive ends and linebackers who can straight up ball. So we can sort of mask things with a 3 man front.

Uh you missed probably the biggest run threat Penn State.

I truly get annoyed talking to some of our fanbase. Because I was talking to a buddy who worries about every game that OSU doesn’t win by 5TDs. I said, dude OU has posed literally no threat with their offense. OSU is shooting themselves in the foot by getting too cute and not punching it in in the RZ. This game should easily hVe been won by at least 3 more TDs. OU was shut down outside of 1 play. This was not like OU’s other games in any facet

And he took a decent angle. It was still a little too inside for me, but he knows his speed and I'm thinking that he could chase Navarro down outside, but didn't want to give up the cut-back. Brah is a player. Period. Parenthetically, why did no one mention Navarro kicking at McDonald like a petulant seven year old?
II was wondering when that happened if that was the kind of move that might get him suspended for a half for the next game after post-game video review, although I don't know if the rules even allow for that. Completely bush league.

Best defense against the run is a 14+ point lead.

It isnt 1985 anymore. Score, then score more.

Stay the fuck out of rock fights with no talent teams.
