Since players are demanding a cut of the profits, this the universities solution. The sport is F'd. Lol

Players will just revolt and refuse to play these extended schedules, because that is basically what they are.

Soon there will be freshman refusing to play playoff games because .....agents.

Basketball injuries are less severe than football. They are smoking crack with this.

They will revolt and others will step up and play. They are all replaceable, will the product be good probably not but see my point above they won’t care as long as they make more money

For me the biggest downer, the sense of deflation I feel, is about the rivalry. They've ruined it. They've ruined it.

Their desperate, blatant, disgraceful cheating is bad, but it's now been blessed as acceptable (they get to keep the wins!), so there is no atonement, there's nothing to fix it. The stain is permanent.

I still hate them, but I no longer love to hate them. I just hate them.

Things we know after the NCAA investigation / rulings on the greatest scandal in CFB history:
1. The University of Xichigan are cheaters. And that there was overwhelming evidence of this fact.
2. The University of Xichigan fans do not care that their team cheated and covered up the cheating. In addition, they gloat and celebrate the fact that they got away with it.
3. The Xichigan Man myth has been fully exposed as a farce.
4. The Appeal of the rulings is further evidence of the arrogance that runs throughout the entire University.
5. The NCAA is a worthless organization

I highly doubt tOSU, Alabama, Oregon, Texas, etc. were in favor of this outcome. Could be wrong but, they were all impacted by the cheating in some way.

And yet not a peep. They and we all bow to the same master. Nothing will change but the public facing entity. Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss. The king is dead! Long live the king, and so on and so forth etc etc ad infinitum

They’re not going to say anything. It would come off as a bad look.

Doesn’t mean that the time hasn’t come. The cracks are there and there have already been whispers.

Im really not trying to be argumentative here. I just cant follow the logic. The ncaa was created by the schools to police themselves. The NCAA is us. We are it. Why would creating another governing body somehow fix any of the problems?

The idea is the little schools have power by sheer numbers in the NCAA while the football powers are the minority. It's also why there was talk of breaking off only in football

As far as the rest I look at it like this:
-they were caught cheating, this was not an exoneration
-they are paying a fine and the guys who did it are banned from the sport
-the NCAA can no longer vacate wins because they no longer have the concept of ineligible players because it's a professional sport now stuck in a transition period of (very) loose league governance.

I liken it to the Astros sign stealing in baseball. They did it, it gave them an advantage and offended everyone's innate sense of "fairness" because we're taught not to cheat at sports*

Coach was fired, GM/school president is out and they paid a big fine.

Sucks for those of us who hate them but that is life in the big city of pro sports. Go kick their ass on the field.

*although everyone tries to find a way to in some form or fashion. Outrage is usually felt most when the other guy gets away with something you didn't think of or try yourself.

This is a very reasonable take to me, and I've never been a romantic about student-athletes and what college football is and always has been. And, in the grand scheme of things, college football just isn't very important, so I try to keep my disappointment at this affront to the basic innate sense of fairness that most humans have in perspective.

The larger thing that bothers me, however, is the ever-increasing perception throughout American society (and in many other places as well) that if you're not cheating, you're not trying, that might makes right, and that anyone who doesn't cheat or use what might they have solely in service of their own ends is a "sucker". This adds to the mounting pile of evidence that that perception is accurate.
