2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments - NCAA: no wins taken away, no postseason ban

Did not see any of this game. Unbiased opinion, how did Underwood look considering he is a true freshman?

I thought he looked pretty solid for a true freshman. Could tell they gave him a lot of single reads and if it wasn’t there, go ahead and use your feet.

Michigans system is tricky to defend on intermediate pass plays because they utilize multiple TE’s and do a good job with picks and rubs, or getting guys free against zone coverage with flood concepts.

Their offense did stall out quite a bit after a hot start…I thought New Mexico was done after the first 10-ish minutes but they battled and made it competitive.

Just to clarify, New Mexico, not Nevada.

The first half was all I could stomach so I don't know if the second half was any different. Underwood does have a canon for an arm. On the intermediate throws, the ball does get there in a hurry. He occasionally put way too much mustard on a short throw, making it difficult to catch. His mechanics were uneven, which caused him to miss several easy throws. I don't recall any throws he made with any sort of touch and at no time did he throw into tight a window.

This Saturday will be a better indication of what he will be this year. Oklahoma will have the talent to stay with Michigan's WR's. and I would think a more complex scheme.

He did what any QB should and mostly hit his wide open throws. Jury is still out on scUM WRs too, New Mexico has one of the worst pass Ds in FBS so it's hard to tell how "good" anyone actually is from playing them when it's the equivalent of playing against air. Underwood didn't have to make any throws into actual contested coverage. Saturday against Oklahoma will be a different story.
