Yep, sure did. Shows that Michigan is a different kind of sacred cow.
With the new transfer rules, that shouldn't have been a consideration factor...wtfYep the COI bought right into the "think of the kids!" Bullshit
However, the panel determined that a postseason ban would unfairly penalize student-athletes for the actions of coaches and staff who are no longer associated with the Michigan football program. Thus, the panel determined a more appropriate penalty is an offsetting financial penalty instead of a two-year postseason ban
How about SMU's death penalty? They did less than cheat to win games.Reggie Bush and USC must be fuming right now.
They took away his Heisman, took away two complete seasons, a National Championship, gave them a two year bowl ban and a loss of scholarships.
Not that what happened at SC was okay, it was definitely against NCAA rules, but look at the stark difference here.
And one of the main reasons cited at the time was SCs refusal to cooperate.
Excuse me!?!
I'm beside myself with rage.
We didn't give them a bowl ban because it would unfairly affect the kids currently in the program. WTF!?!
How about the kids at OSU, MSU, Iowa, Ped State and Wisconsin et al that were "affected" by *ichigan's cheating them out of victories on the field!?!
They almost certainly cost C J Stroud a Heisman, cost Ohio State at least two Big10 Championships and God only knows what else.
This is beyond the pale...
But…but we sent them a strongly worded letter……We should just delete this thread
The most useless, worthless waste of everyone's time
NCAA is a POS
Major cheating and this is the punishment...
Im not trying to be a dick here....Michigan now, yes. But if you're Bumfuck U and you have been 12-78 the past 9 years and you decide you want to cheat your way to a title, you just need to put some money aside. Hell Vanderbilt and Wake Forest should be taking notes here.
If you are going to penalize someone for not following the rules the minimum the penalty should do is discourage breaking those rules in the future. When something is illegal, but the punishment is only monetary, that means it isn't truly illegal - it's only a fee.
Once again, it's up to tOSU to bury them year in and out for the next 20.

The NCAA has outed themselves as Deadwood. It's the wild west and they aren't going to get their hands dirty enforcing anything. If you are going to penalize someone for not following the rules the minimum the penalty should do is discourage breaking those rules in the future.
This punishment fails miserably.
