2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments, etc.

Kirk Barton's presence taints anything he's involved in for me. He comes off as a guy whose absolute peak in life was being a CFB player and now he's clinging to that in any way he can because he cannot do anything else.
Well he only comes across that way because it's 100000% accurate. He was sitting between 2 very connected people who are good at being "on camera" (quotes bc Nevada still insists on pretending he's a shadowy figure*) and his only contribution was "Nevada....what do you think?".

*also funny that at one point Nevada tried to parrot PremierDrum when he said something to the effect of "I'm just connecting dots, if I'm wrong, I'm out in the open and will admit it". Nevada, you're literally NOT out on the open. You hide behind a black screen despite everybody knowing who you are. Clown.

Do you know who he is?

God knows how, but Fisher actually let him into the mba program, and the best that he could do with that was to be a Ricart car salesman.

I'd say these penalties pretty well align with what we've been hearing in the endless rumor mill & what most feel they deserve (though I'd argue 3 year postseason ban is more appropriate given they tainted 3 seasons with their bullshit). We'll see what it ends up being.

The "lifetime ban" for Cheatin' Jim is kind of laughable because that feeb would never return to CFB anyway. He spent his last 3-4 years up there trying desperately to get back to the NFL. But, I guess they have to slap him with something. It would seal him as probably the dirtiest coach in CFB history. I'm unaware of any coaches receiving "lifetime bans." I can recall basketball slimeballs like Dave Bliss, Donnie Tyndall, Todd Bozeman, and Clem Haskins receiving LONG show cause penalties, but I don't think they were actually "lifetime" bans.

I always love the revisionist history by DFBIA that Brady was some beloved scUM player in his time there.

They constantly hated on him and booed him to be benched for Drew Henson. scUM had absolutely nothing to do with his development into a NFL mega star. Hell Brady himself even had nothing to do with scUM until fairly recently.

It's kind of funny - when they hired Cheatin' Jim, everyone was very aware of his flaws and personality defects, but I don't think anybody really thought of him as a "dirty" coach. I sure didn't. No coach is squeaky-clean, so of course there would be minor stuff...and I think there was some small stuff his first couple of years, wasn't there? Hell, even the "cheeseburger" stuff is pretty small potatoes, but that's where he "broke bad" (hat tip Walter White). Instead of fessing up and being accountable (something he preached), he lied his ass off. Then, with his path back to the NFL burnt because he was massively underachieving at tsun, he decided "fuck it" and looked for an edge on the field. So here we are, a guy who was once seen as a titanic asshole and weirdo but not really a "dirty" coach now on the verge of going down as the dirtiest coach in the history of the sport. And the program that spent a century thinking they were better than everyone looking down at the supposed "football factories" being outed as a football factory of the very worst kind. Fuck them, I hope it hurts.

with hindsight, how much of that was prepping for the Judgement Day he knew had a pretty good chance of coming?
IIRC his NFL flirtations began following the 2019 offseason. He was ignored then and then tried again following their disastrous 2020 season...when he found his ass firmly on the scorching hot seat up there. So that was 2 years where he was relatively "clean" but after being ignored by the NFL, he decides during the 2020/21 offseason that he has to do better so...he starts cheating his ass off. Even then, he went another 2 hiring cycles without any offers before they finally win a NC* and at last somebody from the NFL is willing to give him another shot. I think he knew damn well the mob was coming after this was all found out, and we was lucky the Chargers were desperate enough to pluck him out of the jackpot.
