That answer basically say's "I can give 2 shits about winning the Game". He will be happy to be in the playoffs. Of course he wants to win the rivalry, but he definitely isn't going to lose sleep over it.

That is my take from that answer.

I could be totally wrong but with how things seem to be going to feels like he took the job to hook his buddies up with jobs at a major program, easy paycheck for a couple of years and then retire no sweat off his back if they don't do well.

One poster on GoBlow had some great "analysis" claiming Whittingham is actually a great recruiter because he was able to out recruit.....Deion Sanders at Colorado. They can't just call this what it is, a solid but not near landscape changing hire that offers the best chance for stability, 9-3ish ceiling but likely higher floor than the other options. They have to jump into Olympic mental gymnastics mode to try to make it into some national picture changing thing. It's not.

I'll call it now. DFBIA is calling for a change already after 2027 after 2 8-4 seasons

Schedules in 2026 and 2027 are MUCH tougher than the trash they got handed in 2025.

Whittingham isn't a guy who's going to inspire a mass influx of elite transfers, they weren't really getting them before at a high rate, it's not happening now either.

Underwood is the biggest fool on the planet if he doesn't transfer. Whittingham will pound him into the ground like Urban did with JT, he will never progress at all as a passer either. But he took the bag to go to scUM in the first place so quality decision making probably isn't a strong point for him.
